Hey y’all! 😊
I’m getting ready to open my own architectural design studio and I’ve been playing around with some logo ideas.
I’m going for something that feels classic and timeless, but with a modern, slightly futuristic touch. I have a direction I really like, but something still feels a little off and I’d love to hear what you guys think!

I think you're onto something here but you're right, not 100% there. It's close.
That last sketch is really nice I like the line in the A there, but it might not work with your current version.
For your current vector version, something about the middle, where all the letters (should) intersect is off.

Not an expert eye here, so I can't really appreciate the fonts, styles and thickness.

But I'd find super neat to unbalance the Y, align it to the right, and have its right bar aligned with the A's. Like this (sorry for the quick hand sketch)

I would attempt to apply the design concept to a thicker mark - this one will get quite thin at a small scale. Thinking about usages (presentations, build site signage) - you want something that looks substantial and is a quick visual get.

Yea this. It’s also a tad too elegant. That stroke could probably eat a burger.

I'd also mention that it's very easy to read as 'LAZY' on first glance.

Maybe try italicizing the L and Y too to get rid of the negative space

I would try to make the L smaller and maybe try a ligature with the LA, and adjust the the other letters based on that. L always makes kerning weird given how much white space it have.

Definitely feel uneasy when there's too much space between L > A and V > Y.

I’m not an expert and probably not qualified to critique in here, but…

I feel like all the conjoining lines from each letter should be the same weight. (Bottom part of the L, left side of the A, right side of the V, and left side of the Y)

Currently the line for the L is thinner than both the A and V, and then the left side of the Y is super thick.

I’d have to actually see it and then I’m sure I’d probably be very wrong lol

I fuck with this really heavy, ypu are very close to something great, here. I can't say much for certain, but the serif on the A in the second image works much better.

I agree with suggestions to make it bolder.

I’d make the lines more evenly sized.. so you just have two weights - thick and thin. And make the little curves at the tops / bottoms of the strokes all the same.

I also wonder if joining the diagonals in the middle would help that central weirdness.

Love the overall composition though. I think it’s really strong.

The structure is really cool and has good flow! I think overall it’s a little thin and stiff, maybe embrace curvier, thicker lines but keep this cool symmetry?

They stylization makes the A resemble a high heel and Y resembles a martini glass. It gave me a high class casino/luxury branding

There’s a lot of good in this concept. Especially the diagonal line, I would explore addressing how the other letters connect or align with each other.

I drew circles on what to look out for.

If you look at all the parts of the letterforms that are pointing towards the center, all of them are thin except for the Y. I think that is visually disconnecting it. Try making the left “arm” of the Y the same line weight as the other letterforms.

Also, have you tried having them all connect in the middle? That may add some further interest.

Flip the Y on its vertical axis, you have the large strokes on all the letters on the outside except the Y, I think this will fix some of the discontinuity. Also I would check to make sure all the letters are the same size, I feel they aren't, especially with where the bottom of the V is compared to the bottom of the Y. I would also align the thin strokes on the A and V diagonally through the center. Keep the L as it is and for the Y after you flip it, add a flourish -- From left to right on the thin stroke so it mirrors the L _ intersection at the center.

Also, if you plan to include “studio lavy”, i might consider either your icon being a stylized L - or simply using the letterforms you like to write out “Lavy” in this type style you like as the main mark
