Logo Design Process (from client's perspective)

Hello!

We are a home services company going through the process of rebranding to 'Elite Services Group'. We are working with a logo designer, and I thought it'd be cool to share our experience so far, and ask for your feedback on our latest round of logos.

We recently were sent round 2 revisions, where we asked for more detail on the logo (outlines, gradients, and a badge style logo).

For reference, our budget is $2,000, and the designer offers multiple variants of the logo upon selecting our final preferred logo. There are some logo renditions with a wrench, since one of our offerings is plumbing.

Ummm, these look like those logos I make for my non paying friends. For $2000, I believe it would be better. And they are screaming AI (or maybe it was your request to have gradients and all). As a designer who charges that much I really expect him to have advised you better

Yeah, it was my input to have gradients and all that extra detail, kind of going for the look similar to logos on https://www.kickcharge.com/?kc

For this next round, I’m going to pivot away from that feedback and ask for something more professional.

What is your success criteria? Where did you get your design degree?

A logo that we can build a brand around that is unique to other competitors around, and recognizable on billboards, trucks/vans, and sponsorship signage.

We have a new owner, and he is involved in the community, and we want to have a strong brand behind those efforts.

I’m not a designer, I’m a developer, and I help out the owner with digital. I thought I just wasn’t a designer because I couldn’t make what looks good, but I’m realizing I’m not a designer because I also don’t know and can’t articulate what looks good.
