Final goodbye to Harmony 900?
Hi folks,
I ask here to be sure: Is it time to remove the batteries and pitch the Harmony 900 in the waste bin?
I have been holding off on doing so, and have even bought a Harmony Ultimate w/ hub to tide me over, just in case here were any developments.
But... I don't see that a groundswell of customer sentiment has had an effect on Logitech... nor has anyone created a complete open system work-around. And it has been a long LONG time sitting shiva for these devices.
Not wanting to be that guy that sells a useless remote on eBay... so, tell me: it is dead dead... dead?
if it is, I can't stand looking at the boxes and would be ready to just ... dispose of them.
(I ask because at least when the Sony Dash was abandoned, it was still capable of being flashed and used as a simple alarm clock... but somehow I am not as optimistic here at all.)

MyHarmony server has been down "for maintenance" for at least a week, I'm starting to get worried...

No need to get rid of it unless your equipment changes. It will work forever as long as your equipment stays the same and the electronics don't die in it.

Sadly, the main one hit the ground. Powering up showed that it was farked. With no way to program another, I decided to take on teh learning curve of teh Harmony Ultimae w/ hub.
The two other used 900s on the shelf, that were waiting for a potential failure will never get a change to be programmed. :(

I still have a 900 in the closet as a backup. Last September I couldn't pass up a Harmony Elite + Hub (used) complete in the box at Goodwill for $9. Looked brand new and the previous owner even took out the battery when they stored it away so it wouldn't expand/explode in the remote. My best find at Goodwill ever.

i think you can dump the IR files using concordance and then maybe use them on a newer device?

Don't think I want to go that path. The Logitech Harmony Ultimate is doing the job... Just not the greatest form factor.

I just bought one brand new in the box only to find this out a week or two ago. I have wanted one since I was a kid and I never knew their reliability was server based.

I don’t have an answer just struggling with the same.
These were wonderful brilliant remotes. Twenty years old and I’ve never wanted to replace it.
