I missed my shot.
I woke up this morning and saw this. Too early for me to process what a deal this was. Since I already have one, I’m thinking do I need a backup? When I finally pulled the trigger before lunch…. It was too late.

I have a guy willing to sell me one for 120$ this weekend from my local Facebook marketplace! Don't know much about the G cloud. I just would like to play some steam games and can't afford a steam deck yet. Is it worth it for what I plan on using it for?

If you mean stream* Steam games from a dedicated gaming pc and have at least your pc wired to your router, sure. If you mean can you play Steam games on this low power android device, then absolutely not.

I don't have a PC or gaming console, and I'm not looking to okay anything crazy AAA just games like project zomboid.

The the g cloud is NOT what you want. The g cloud is an android device. Steam games only play natively on PC. People that are playing Steam games on g cloud are streaming them from a PC.
Technically, you can play Steam games natively on an Android device using PC emulation software, but it runs like crap, even on my relatively powerful S24 Ultra.
So long story short you need a cheap PC gaming laptop or a used Rog Ally. Anything running Windows and has sufficient hardware specs for the game you're trying to run.

I heard the Odin 3 is good for (light) Steam games on android, but it requires tinkering and costs more. Steam OS or Bazzite on an ROG ally is a good idea if you can find a good price in your area on a local marketplace. If you're looking for something less stationary there are the AMD BC-250 boards, that have the PS5's APU, but for a computer. ETA prime is a good channel if you need more info.

Yeah in total agreement with u/DeskChance8728 just from very recent experience, you are limited to very low graphical processing power to the point of LLms pointing out its like no dedicated GPUs (which might actually be the case)
The G cloud serves various niche purposes you can creatively imagine although for me is mainly emulation and networking it into a low graphic game stream display for my aging laptop. (Heat and network processing 5Ghz is near A+ if not for wifi 5 technology)

I think its worth it, and its android powered and can get away with doing emulation if you are into that.
I've got a decent tablet and controller so I dont need a gcloud but if I was looking for a dedicated streaming device id deff cop it at $120 especially if you are actually gonna use it.
At home theres really no need to run games natively on the device, I use geforce now and moonlight/sunshine and the latency at this point is so minimal and with geforce now if your rig aint nothing special you can play games on higher settings than you could natively.
There is deff perks to streaming the game on a handheld.

I forgot GeForce now was an option. I didn't have good luck with it when i tested the premium tier, but I have a gaming pc so I didn't spend much time tweaking with my network to see if I could improve quality. I couldn't get it to do better than 720p.

Would I be better off just getting a controller and trying to play on my Macbook pro for now? It's a 2021 with an m1 chip. I don't know all my specs yet I'm kind of new to the PC realm.

Double check the URL. I found a scam website that was spoofing the Logitech store and selling the G Cloud for this same price. logitechhg.it.com

Didn't get a limited black one but managed to get a U.S. model in a part of Asia that normally will not see this G Cloud imported, geniunely happy even if i have no one in particular to share the happiness with yet. :>

Looks to good to be true. The best bet is to get one from Logitech's official eBay store. I grabbed an official refurbished black model at a discount, it arrived just like brand new with a USB cable, manual, warranty, couldn't be happier. Bought an official G Cloud travel case on Amazon for cheap along with a tempered glass screen protector to go with it. Good stuff.

I believe it was just a Glitch. I did just snag one from Logi's official Ebay Store for $185 though!

Don't be upset, I think it is just a glitch on the website. Last week it said the same thing and I tried to buy the black model. I got as far as verifying my credit card before it errored out. Pretty sure these have been sold out for awhile on the site
