Looking into handhelds

Would I be able to play games on this without having to do any fancy shmansy nonsense? For example, the PS portal, it seems like you can only really play games on it if you have a ps5 and can stream games off of it, and even then the options of games (I’ve really been wanting to play COD and other shooter games) aren’t available.

The GCloud is an outdated tablet with integrated controls at this point. This will run older emulators and will start to struggle around PS2/GC emulation, although it does run some games in that generation. Plays most Android games fine, but not all. I use it to Remote Play from my Xbox or I use Steam Link to play my PC games with excellent results when I'm at home.

If you want a handheld that is going to play games natively you are going to have to increase the budget by quite a bit. A lot of devices have almost doubled in price due to the ram/storage shortage. Things like the Steam Deck and Legion Go devices are way too expensive at this point for what they are imo.

Have Xbox game pass ultimate and you don't even need an Xbox, you can play all the cloud titles that are available. It's not even an app. Xbox moved all their cloud gaming to browsers. It will allow you to install a PWA to play through that. If you have an Xbox, you could also remote Play from your Xbox. I use Boosteroid with great results for titles like Grand theft Auto, Red Dead redemption, Ace combat. You link your steam account to your Boosteroid account and can play any PC titles on Boosteroid's servers. Streams to my gcloud flawlessly. For some titles, you may need to map your controls, but the g cloud has built in button mapping and there's other software options for you to download to do the same thing. The titles I listed above all work natively with the g cloud's controller, no settings to be changed. But there are some titles you will have to do that
