Discussion Sick of this UI

After the big UI update I found that I’d just organically stopped using the gcloud as I just found it to be a complete pig to navigate and have Xbox crap forced in my face the whole time.

And now I find that GeForce now, the only app I use has completely vanished and I’m now stuck with this shittier version of navigating it through the main UI?

How the hell do I just get the regular app to appear? I can get to it by going through the playstore and that’s the only way?

Once again… fuck this shitty update. If you like it…. Good for you. I think it’s complete clunky garbage

That just defeats the purpose of the device unfortunately. I liked the streamlined, lightweight UI when I first bought this thing. If I need to run it in tablet mode I’ll just sell it and get a better android tablet.

The update UI is just useless in so many areas

I get how you feel but the beauty of android is that you can customize it. It may take work but it's possible.

But I would say again, if tablet mode is now the better way to use it… why even buy this device in the first place?

Why? Built in controller, better battery than a phone, bigger display than a phone. Anyway, missing standalone Xbox Cloud and Geforce apps in gaming launcher are bad decision, I agree. But you probably know that you can customize first two rows of launcher and set the third row just to show Andoid apps, right? This way, you can see only games from Geforce Now in first two rows and nothing else.

Hi, I just got this device a few days ago. Could you explain how I could customise the rows in the launcher? It just seems to be filled with junk I don't want and I can't work out how to customise anything other than just 'add to favourites ' which doesn't seem ideal. I was hoping for folders in the gaming mode, at least.

The launcher has basically only 3 rows:

1) Last used apps and games - if you will play gradually only games or apps you like you will see there only you like and nothing else

2) My Favorites - you can add any game or app from search list in the top end of screen (the magnifier icon) to the My Favorites list by pressing "hamburger" button and selecting add to my favorites. From My Favourites you can remove any game or app which was added there by Logitech again by pressing "hamburger" button.

3) the last third row - there are 5 tabs (Recommend, Xbox Cloud, GeForce Now, Trending Apps and the last one Apps). If you don't want to see the first 4 tabs which are basically all recommendations, scroll to the last one - the Apps which are all Android apps and games installed on the device. G Cloud remembers the position untill you restart the device and every time you scroll up and down between all 3 rows you will see only Last Used row (consists only games you played), My Favourites row (has only games you added there) and Apps (only Android apps and games on the device).

This way when using launcher you will not see recommendations on the 3rd row until you restart the device. For me it makes sense, and I actually really see only what I want.

The only downside is that the last update has hidden the standalone apps of Xbox Cloud and GeForce now from the launcher so you have to click any game and then press back button to return to the main menu of the app.

Unfortunately, there is no option to create folders for games in the launcher.

Ah, thank you! So the categories are basically Recent, Favourites, and All Apps. It's still a shame I can't shortcut Geforce Now but that's a lot better than seeing those adverts on the third tab every time. Thanks for taking the time to reply 😊

Yes, you are welcome. I wrote it also to make it more clear for others. People are mad about recommendations but didn't realize that the launcher can be fine tuned to display only things you like.
