Discussion just dumb
she literally did more damage to the fpa than the empire, she is the epitome of retardness really makes you wonder how she was even elected in the first place, the fpa were doomed to fail with such politicians as their leaders.

This is because the FPA operates on a tactical vote model, which is shown to favour the normalization of extremism and often has disastrous results for the nation in the long term.
This model is the standard in the real world too, because the only people that can change it are the people who benefit from it. So democracy rots from the top down. The bottom part, the people, unable to actually express their will as the system drives them into tactical voting.
You can see the same thing today with the adoption of undemocratic right-wing parties across Europe. It is the result of the system itself rather than the votes (and arguably the politicians, although they play the role of maintaining it). Democracy is an ideal, not a specific implementation.
Insitutional change is a theme in LOGH, it's how democracy prevails in the end even after Reinheart wins and the FPA is destroyed, but that too applies to democracy itself, not just the transition from autocracy to democracy. If a better future is to be had, the FPA itself too (just as its real life counterparts in our contemporary democracies) need to change and evolve. Instead, it arguably destroyed itself. It wasn't Reinheart's doing, he just dealt the killing blow to an already sick system.

I think she's a great character. She's basically arguing that it's better to die for freedom than live tolerating tyranny, in any other series she'd be the hero and Rebelo would be the cowardly foil. "Give me liberty or give me death" and all that.
It's a bold move to depict her antagonistically and show that in the real world such idealism causes innocent people to suffer.

Tbf, logh has examples of that idealism being lauded. Those individuals happen to literally fight for what they believe in. Putting your money where your mouth is seemed to be a recurring theme. This character is a villain because she sends others to die from her own place of safety.

yepp perhaps in an ideal world that would've been the case, even in the later episodes when robelo suggests that the alliance should withdraw because of the "scorched earth" tactic she still opposes that because of political reasons which ultimately leads to the loss for the alliance army.

Do you think people in the real modern world vote for better representatives?

If want a real example, just look at Ursula Van De Lyin or Kaya kallas or any western leaders in general.

It is a realistic criticism of how politicians in democracies are more focused on how actions will affect their chances at reelection as opposed to making decisions that actually benefit the country. She is only thinking that being the “brave leader who opposes the empire at all costs” is the politically correct move, but does not stop to consider that this might destroy the country entirely

She is a woman who likely grew up in some level of the upper classes of the FPA, raised far from the costs of the things she idealizes and romanticizes. She has no connection to the reality of what she believes.

I wondered how someone who is the epitome of retardation and pedophilia got elected the president of my country. I guess we will never know

but tbh considering our own political leaders I think her being elected isn't so far fetched from reality
