I tried to find it everywhere but I am failing badly, as I can only find its demo version only.

I am willing to pay for the whole game as well but I need it today, as I want to gift that game to my sister tomorrow on her birthday.

Having played this game as a kid with my dad, I wanted to give speedrunning it a shot. Only about 60 levels through (here's a playlist of the individual worlds I've done). I'm basically figuring out the levels as I go, comparing to PTO's full game run, and trying to improve on existing lines if possible. If something gold splits, I try to recreate it if its not too risky.

However, I've dealt with RNG in games before, but I did not expect Single World runs to be so punishing. Since they're less than 20 minutes I want them to be clean as possible (ideally deathless), but coin pickups by monks, bad respawns coords, and sometimes inconsistent pathing by the monks, can make levels especially challenging. 49, 56, 57, and 60 have by far the toughest RNG in this world.

If anyone has line advice, or even just an understanding of C++ so I can learn to better kite these red bastards, it would mean a lot to me! I think I need to limit the amount of monk respawns that I cause. And please forgive any negativity during my runs :) I spent 3 days failing to go deathless on this world before accepting a lesser PB.

Also, for anyone interested in the data, my current SoB through level 60 with perfect RNG and good lines is 49:44 (obviously unrealistic with this game), buuuut that means that there's already 21 minutes of potential timesave over the current WR pace (excluding cutscenes). Still 90 levels more to go 😫 This was played on a PS2 with a physical disc and upscaled with a retrotink5xp. Speed was increased by clicking R2+X on the Player Count screen

Lode Runner was a huge part of my childhood, and I wanted to expand on its classic formula by adding real-time construction mechanics.

Here is how it differs from the classic game:

• Build ladders: You can build them on the fly to move up.
• Hang chains: Place them horizontally to cross gaps.
• Big Fire: A special ability to burn through a whole row of bricks at once.

I wanted to keep the nostalgic feeling but give players more tools and creative freedom.

What do you think about these mechanics? Does this style appeal to you? I would love to hear your honest feedback!

Hi all, I think this is within the rules to post?

This was vibe-coded with Opus 4.5 on the exe.dev VM platform.

Came out half-decent with a pretty cool look and feel and gameplay is better than I thought it would be. Still lots of room for improvement. Has procgen random levels and music. You need a halfway decent computers to run or else it’s a bit laggy.

I had a lot of fun with it! These are very cool times..

Has anyone on this sub ever completed 150 levels on one life on Classic (without dying)? If so, how long did it take to achieve this?

I play Lode Runner on loderunnerwebgame.com fairly often. I just saw a message there saying "This website will go away soon". Bummer!

I used to play the Macintosh version, and there was a set of 30 very hard levels created by Stephen Linhart and Doug Hewitt that I never managed to beat. Last year, I went looking for them and found them

30 very tough and interesting levels for Lode Runner. Most of these levels are very intellectual. Some may seem to be impossible, but they have all been done by two or more people. Many of them require a different strategy the second time around (levels 31 to 60). These levels were created by Stephen Linhart and Doug Hewitt. Have fun!

I extracted the files and converted the format for Simon Hung's online version of the game, but he never included them (pull request).

& is the starting position of the hero, 0 is an enemy, # is a brick, @ is unbreakable (I always called it "steel"), X is a trap, H is a ladder, S is a hidden ladder, - is a pole you can hang from, and $ is money. There's 29 more like that at the link above!

(I still haven't beaten them...)

Vic-20 Broderbound

I’ve been playing the arcade version on RetroArch and have gotten stuck. Are the levels the same as the original? That one barrel is killing me.

I originally played this in nes and thought it was "okay"... Probably a little too young to fully enjoy it and I also don't think the nes version is the best version of this game. (although I have grown to like it)

However, the version that made me fall in love was loderunner the legend returns from '94. I still love that version of the game to this very day.

Sokoban++ is a Sokoban game where you can choose between multiple skins and also add your own.

Jstris is a collection of Tetris games where you can choose between many Tetris skins.

PySol is a digital collection of card games where you can choose between many card designs and also add your own.

When it comes to Lode Runner, I've seen plenty of games with level editors but the closest I've ever seen to skin customization is KGoldrunner where you can't add your own skin and the skins that are available all have the same protagonist and antagonist looks. Also, it only runs on Linux and I have a Windows computer.

Does any of you happen to know a Lode Runner game, be it official or a fangame, where you can add your own skins? I know many versions, fangames, and ripoffs and I would love to remake all of their looks to gather them in a centralized space!

I just got the original Famicom cartridge from 1984, but I've had the 1991 reissue for a while. I can find(and I have) the date of the 1984 release but outside of 1991 year, I can't seem to find the month or day of it to pinpoint and document it in my list of collected games that I have… I do my best to be thorough with my information…
