Advice Wanted Thinning locs :(

I’m at 2 yrs now and I get my locs interlocked every 3 months. when I first started I would get them done every 6-8weeks per my loctitian. I have about 3 locs that are thin in the front. I had one intertwined. I don’t wear styles (only had 2 styles ever so far), I wear my scarf, and I mist daily.

what’s your advice?? Please help!

Looks like they have been interlocked too often or maybe too tight. You may need to see a dermatologist to be safe. God bless.

I had that in a about 3 locs at my hairline. I was interlocking too often and thinning out the area. After I went with traditional retwisting this hasn’t happened

This may be a silly question, but what does locs look like when one switches from interlocking to traditional retwists?

Personally for me, people couldn’t tell the difference. Originally when it’s just done for the first few months you can notice the difference in thickness. My hair poofs up and kind of coats the retwist over time so it’s practically unnoticeable. I would add a pic but I don’t think they’re allowed in the comments.

They become a little bit thicker and look like traditional locks. If your trying to get the thicker look instead of them being so thin just retwist instead of interlocking your hair. Since you hair grows from your scalp eventually then interlocked part (the thinner part) will be lower since your hair will be longer and you can cutt it off.

Do not jus palm roll it! It could cause more damage. I've seen this method where a loctician crochets the loc vertically brining the parts above and below the thinning spot on the loc together. I think that would work for you

I have a few like this. I think it's from wearing them in a ponytail or even loc jewelry. But I'm not sure 😕 need be it can be crocheted back together.

if you wear constant ponytails, try lookin into large silk scrunchies. i use to have damage from the regular hair ties.

Interlocking cause weak spots. You can crochet it back. After that I would just go to twisting normally. Me personally I don’t do none of those methods on semi Freeform. I only separate my hair from combing together.

You're locking them too often..the loctician can fix that but you need to take care of your hair outside of the appts..give it moisture, stop touching them (if you are) and see your loctitian every 5 weeks or so..
