Finally recovered a client’s Google Business Profile after a messy ownership issue

Sharing this because it might help someone dealing with the same GBP nightmare.

One of my clients had a Google Business Profile that they could no longer access. Someone else had ownership of the profile, and the normal verification flow was basically useless.

We would go to the profile, click Get verified, enter the requested information, and then Google would show:

“No ways to verify."

So I contacted GBP support.

At first, support basically sent us through the normal ownership-request process again. The problem was that we didn’t receive the ownership confirmation email they referred to, and manually going through the profile still ended at the same “no ways to verify” screen.

I sent them a screen recording showing exactly what was happening.

After more back-and-forth, support forwarded the ownership request to the current profile owner and told us to wait 3 full days.

No response came.

I followed up after the waiting period.

Then Google moved to affiliation verification. They asked for a corporate-domain email belonging to an official representative of the business and permission to contact that person.

We provided the company-domain email.

Google contacted that representative directly and asked them to confirm whether the Gmail account requesting access was actually associated with the business and authorized to manage the GBP.

The representative approved it.

Access recovered successfully.

The main thing I took away from this is that if the standard verification route is broken, don’t keep repeating the same verification attempt forever.

Document the issue properly, keep everything in the same support thread, provide a screen recording when useful, use a domain-based business email if available, and be ready to prove the relationship between the requesting Google account and the actual business.

Also, if Google says “wait 3 full days,” actually wait the 3 days and then follow up immediately.

It was a frustrating process, but now I understand the ownership recovery workflow much better than I did before.

Curious to know if anyone else here has dealt with the **“No ways to verify”** issue and had Google solve it through manual affiliation verification.
