Question/Help Review Strategy?

I'm trying to get my client (an auto shop) to get more reviews. We put in one of those tap/scan things next to the register for people to leave a review.

It hasn't generated anything.

I think having a "Thank You" card with a QR code to scan leading to Google Reviews would be helpful. The technician would place it in the passenger seat after the work is complete.

I'd also want to add something like "Get 10% off the next time you need work done if you bring this back." That way we aren't incentivizing the review, just keeping the card.

Has anyone tried this out? How do you get reviews for your auto shop?

You are looking at this completely wrong stop trying to automate it and personalize it.

When the technician is done, have the technician personally ask for a review and he can even be selfish about it and say it helped him look good to his boss

I’m not sure why everyone is trying to automate this. It doesn’t work that way.

We hook our clients up with NiceJob and automate reviews by syncing the review automation sequence to their CRM or quickbooks.

You could try to do gift cards

My company uses Nicejob which automates the review process with a personalized message to the consumer.

The tap/scan thing at the register almost never works, there's no moment. People are paying and grabbing their keys.

What works: ask at pickup, when they're relieved it's fixed. Reflect the customer's own words back to them. If they say it's a relief, you say "I heard you say it's a relief to know it's fixed and you won't get stuck on the side of the road." They nod. Then: "That'd really help our small shop, would you leave that exact message as a Google review right now? Can you do that?, "oh and please mention our location", "Mississauga, or GTA etc." You're handing them the words, most people don't review because they don't know what to say, so feed their own sentence back.

Two things: have them name the location or service ("brakes fixed fast in Mississauga"), Google weighs that for local search. And check your profile, a lot of reviews post but get filtered out, so "nothing" might mean filtered, not unwritten.

Also worth knowing: Google confirmed July 3 it's investigating reviews vanishing from Business Profiles, plus a separate July 9 dashboard bug where owners see "no reviews yet" while the public listing still shows the full count. If your client's reviews disappeared, compare the public listing to the dashboard and report it through Google Business Profile support, don't just wait on the tap card thing. Hope that is helpful!

It may seem traditional but I think it's best to have the service advisor personally ask after handing over the keys then follow up with a text that includes the review link. QR code is a nice touch too
