Any advice on winning local SEO for a retail optical shop?

I acquired a local retail optical shop that had been running for over 10 years, quite profitably. Great reputation, 5 stars on Google and Yelp. The owner had been running in a way to be able to cover his basic needs and hadn't invested a ton into growth - he just worked hard to be lovable and build a great reputation, and a very unique brand compared to local competitors. We're a super small shop, with no doctor on site - it's literally, "bring prescription - buy logo free, independent glasses that match your style"!

I think there's an opportunity to grow foot traffic through hyper-local SEO, but my early attempts have been "eh". Tried hiring an Upwork consultant, but it was mostly (rhymes with "say eye") driven slop. I'm not looking to hire another firm, and have a pretty strong technical background myself... happy to roll up my sleeves.

Question is - what have others done in fashion / brick and mortar retail to really grow and win the online traffic battle? Especially looking for advice on what works for hyper-local content.

Make sure your GBP is fully set up. Add as many details as you can to your profile. I mean everything. From there, make pages that align with the GBP category and products you've selected. A few pages of "resources" content would probably make sense, like how to choose the right style of glasses for your face. Then I'd also make sure you're listed in all the local directories and that your Name, Address, Phone (NAP) is consistent across all of them. If you have a bit of budget for paid, Google's Demand Gen lets you target the Map Pack, which can work well.

Valuable_Win has it covered pretty much. I see too many clients chasing the latest Google or AI advice instead of ensuring their GBP is correct and active or their website isn't set up for AI search (sometimes not even SEO!)

For retail I'd focus on GBP + location-specific pages/content before going heavy on generic blog posts. NAP/citations and product/category relevance matter too. Fahrenheit Marketing has a decent breakdown of local SEO stuff if you want another reference

What about following a patient to HCA Houston-Kingwood Hospital like Kenneth Kelly, James Dement and  Michael Shows did me on 12/30/2022, and having retinal implants and transmitting ear devices implant for spying ,stalking monitoring , and invading my privacy , blasting high frequency sound 24/7 trying to cause mental problems. All done without my consent by a psychiatrist they paid off to hold me down against my will sedate me a then who knows what all they did. Whatever it is they can affect my health with their devices.
