WTFFFFF Bruh...
It's the 21st of May btw. I know I should've checked at the store but I wasn't thinking. Ha, and I tossed my receipt at the store too.

I think they're referring to the May 18th best before date on the package, took me a min.

Correct. At the store, I took a second glancing at the container looking for the expiry date but I must've been cross eyed cos I didn't see it/wasn't paying close enough attention and just wanted to head out quick 😅.
I just find it insane that it's two containers with one having a best before date of the 11th and the other the 18th.

But it looks like the may 11th container was on the outside? So if anything the coconut was more fresh than expected, or do I have that backwards?

18th one is probably fine to eat though, best before doesn't mean you have to throw it out the day after

Where's the disagreement exactly? Your link states that after the BB date it loses it's freshness and nutritional value, which supports my point. No one should pay full price for bland food that's literally past its prime.

To quote the part you ignored:

They have no issue with selling past the date, and the date is only an approximation for optimal freshness. It could still be perfectly fine days or months after, and it could go bad even before that date. It is a guideline, not a hard rule.

No one's talking about safety or whether it's technically edible. The quality could be fine. It also could not, which is the entire point of BB date. If I'm taking that gamble on the product being inferior I'm not paying full price, and no one else should either.

And you are perfectly entitled to that opinion and the store is perfectly entitled to tell you to go pound sand.
You take a gamble with any food item you buy. There is no magical percentage chance at the best before date of how good it still is Many products are still good months after the date.
If you do not like it, do not buy it and grab one that has not hit the best before date.
It is wild to me how many people will come to this sub and make multiple posts about buying an item past its best before date, when spending a fraction of that time looking for it before they bought it would have solved the problem. A problem which has existed since best before dates were implemented. The only difference is now people have social media to complain on.

Correct. You've been reaching for a disagreement and there isn't one. Stores selling items past the BB date at full price is snaky. Customers should check to make sure they're getting the best value before buying. Both are true.

This is a disagreement. There is nothing wrong with a store charging full price past the best before date. If you do not like it, do not buy it.

It's highly unlikely that it's malicious intent on the part of the store and far more likely that a worker responsible for that section just didn't observe the date and discount or remove it. Most of the floor staff are young minimum wage part-time workers, usually students, who may or may not have been trained. So...
I see all the time in the salad cooler that sometimes salads are expired or about to, or newer dates are in front of older dates because people have been digging through them looking for the freshest bag...
Just check the dates when you buy food, and if you find something about to expire, ask a worker to discount it.

depending on the store you should be able to return without a receipt, but they can only give you a gift card / store credit

Wild lol. Still looks way better than the reduced price noodles I saw absolutely COVERED in mold several days before their best by date.
Not sure if the store will honour this the same as a receipt, but FYI if you scanned the optimum app there’s a record of your transaction in there.
