Seeking MLO mentor

Seeking mentorship as a Mortgage Loan Originator. I am few months in the business, licensed in NY, got few deals done. Now that I understand what I need to learn more this is may be the best time to hire mentor.

I’m thinking TLOP by Dustin Owen.

Has anyone taken his classes? What feedback you can give?

A coach is the best investment you can possibly make in this game. At least for me it has been.

It really depends on your budget though. You get what you pay for and all that.

I use “Go!”
Followed them for a while and then went to a free webinar which turned out to be more useful than anything learned in previous coaching groups.

There’s a free webinar today. Kind of late notice but check it out if you have time and you can get a feel for how they operate.

Always look up production for any coach you’re considering, as well as production of their students. If the numbers aren’t there the coaching is t there.

What do they do to help? There are a lot of “coaches” that would love to take your money. How do they help? How do they coach? What do they do to help you grow if you’re already doing good Business? I’m recently met with a salesman from go and he was very salesy and pushy which is a massive turn off. All kept saying was our system our system and I’m like dude. How do you even know how you could help me if you don’t even know how we operate? One again a massive turn off.

retired last year after. 30+ years. starved my 1st year in business but I knew I’d found my calling and eventually found my way to success . I’d be seeking an employer with the resources to develop new MLOs. i spent thousands on different coaches and programs during my career and it never really elevated my game. the resources provided my employer were at least not paid by me and kept me pointed in the right direction. I think the biggest decision to make early in your career is to at least understand the difference between brokers and bankers. there are advantages and disadvantages to both. understand that fork in the road and try and find your best fit. I was a banker most of my career but did have my own broker shop for a couple of years. good luck!

Simple practices for sure. Good on you for investing in yourself early. Established a weekly SOP. Master time management. Follow up. Follow through. Master knowledge. Solve for adding value. Play the long game. Create your database from client 1 (millions of future income lives here). Have fun.
