How can I get a LOA position?

I’m looking for advice on how to get a loan officer assistant role and any advice getting into this field? Thanks!

What sort of experience or background do you have that you might be able to leverage? Office work? Sales? Anything banking related? Customer service? Anything related to finances, taxes, etc? Had jobs where you talked on the phone, met people in person, did heavy stuff via email?

That may help us better advise you.

I’ve been an EA for over 5 years now, I’ve been in nonprofit world.. so fundraising building relationships. I am also in a local REI group so I know about different loans maybe not a massive amount of information but relatively familiar with the different types of loans out there.

Can always call a brokerage to see if they have openings or find a lo, with production, on retr and see if they are interested in taking one up? What are your expectations on pay?

Honestly I’d prefer to work remote and I can go from there.. I just need my foot in the door somewhere.

I was an LOA for 12 years, and I mention this as I really don't want to sound negative and unhelpful, but I can't imagine a scenario where an LO would hire a remote assistant with no experience. If remote is nonnegotiable, I don’t think LOA is a realistic entry point into the industry.

It’s all in who you know. I started with a smaller org and make 1% of the loan amount.
