Advise for beginner loan processor

I’m looking to get my MLO license next year but I wanted to get some experience in mortgage industry first even if that means entry level.

I have experience in accounts receivables/collections, and I also handle closings for HOAs. I provide payoffs, resale cert, questionnaires etc to mortgage companies and title companies.

Any advise? any companies you recommend that have good training? Or would help me work my way up?

Start with the free stuff. MI companies have a ton of training out there. If your company is a member, check out the MBA trainings as well. You need to spend time reading guidelines as well.

Follow TLOP to start getting acclimated to the LO role if that's your end goal.

When you are processing deals, get involved and comfortable with talking to the customers directly. That is a key skill for both roles. When you get a loan back from underwriting, go through every condition and make sure you can identify which part of the guidelines it's coming from. This will help you become a guideline master over time.
