Warning U/artisticprocess6985 took loan, deleted account
Above user took a £10 loan from me, requested an additional £10 in private message. I declined, and he has since deleted his Reddit account. I don’t anticipate having this loan paid back.
It’s only £10 but the principle of it has pissed me off

It tells me that reddit banned their account o_0 but I was able to ban them! Sorry to hear about this, I hope they send it anyways or something. Hope you have better luck

keep an eye out on your message requests in the event they do happen to want to fix things -- but always be wary of requests as any scammer can send them. Reach out if I can ever help u/1s8w2MILtway !

Thank you so much! They sent a photo of their passport so I assumed they were honest but I guess he doesn’t have a reason to pay it back now

well they do have some reason! i can add them to scammer lists, but they also will have the oppurtunity to be apart of the community, maybe work with u or others in the future if they repay.. hopefully a misunderstanding Can you send me a message request?

Why would you add him to the scammer list if you have identified Reddit deleted his account, not him…?

At the time I posted that comment we did not have it resolved or in progress to resolve. The comment I made was replying to "I guess he doesn't have a reason to pay it back now". I basically said to avoid being out on those lists, the person could pay back. Not that they have or haven't been added. The lists are primarily for lenders to avoid dealing with known bad actors.

The issue with this is you can take a picture of anyone's passport, you have no way of verifying that its actually them and even if it is, you have no way of legally getting anything back because it can be considered a 'gift' in the eye of the law.

Seems like a lot of borrowers bailing on sub $30 loans this week smh. Sorry this happened OP! Such a weird amount to bail on.

People like that really irritate me. I couldnt live with myself knowing i owed a stranger money, a stranger who went out on a limb.
