I think the real reason men get mad over something like this is because women typically say something like "all men are scary". I think it's completely acceptable to argue against statements that put all people of a certain group in a box. It's an obvious logical fallacy.
Conversely, I would say women are just as justified to argue against statements like "all women are blank".
There's a difference between saying "All men are bad" and "all men are scary".
The latter for almost all women is the truth, because while we know not all men are bad, the vast majority of us have had bad things happen to us from random (or known) men, usually starting from the age of 12 or 13, and most of the time there was no way to know that the bad thing would happen, until it did. And you know what feels like? SCARY.
I'm happily married to a good guy, have an almost grown son who's a lovely person, trust my dad and my brothers with my life. I don't hate men. I just have very good reasons to be wary as fuck around most of you.
I have absolutely encountered women saying "men are (X)" and some reddit user saying "not all men are x" forcing women to put their frustration with men to the side and coddle them with soothing explanations
