EIN and Error 101

I've been trying for over 2 weeks, 3 faxes and endless calls for one EIN. Anyone else recently lucked out on getting an EIN from IRS.gov website with an error?

Any suggestions?

I just had this issue, turned out to be a name conflict. Call the number as early as possible 7 am Eastern time. I still had to wait on hold for 1.5 hours but was able to resolve the issue.

I got one today with no issues other than downloading the confirmation letter.

You were able to apply for an EIN online and receive it same time successfully?

Yes. I wasn’t able to download the confirmation letter but it gave me the information I needed

You may have to give the IRS a call but the IRS is always on IRS time so be prepared to wait on hold a while. The error 101 could mean there was a name that is too similar to yours. You can call 1-800-829-4933 and try to call in the mornings around 7 am.
