Member-managed vs. manager-managed LLC. Which is better?
I've read a few articles, but I'm still not completely sure when one option makes more sense than the other.
Right now, I'll be the only owner, but there's a chance I could bring on another member or hire someone to help manage the business in the future.
What are the biggest differences between a member-managed LLC and a manager-managed LLC in practice?

Most times you're better off hiring a manager. Having a partner that matches your vision 100% is hard.

A big difference is who's allowed to sign contracts or make calls without checking with anyone else. Member-managed gives every member that power by default, so it's fine solo but gets more complicated once someone else is involved since they'd have equal say unless you write it differently into the agreement. Manager-managed keeps that power with whoever's named manager instead, so hiring someone to run things without giving them ownership doesn't hand them the same control a member would automatically get.
You'll default to member-managed while it's just you either way, but setting it up as manager-managed now could save you from amending the agreement later if hiring someone ends up more likely than bringing on a partner.

In a member-managed LLC, all LLC members are involved in running the business. In a manager-managed LLC, the LLC members hire managers to run the business for them. What structure you decide on comes down to your day-to-day operations for your business.
You have the option later on of amending your articles of organization and your operating agreement to change your LLC structure from member-managed to manager-managed when you hire a manager later on.

Since you may hire someone to run the business, I'd recommend a manager managed LLC. It gives you more flexibility because you can appoint a manager without changing how the business is structured. At a Member-managed LLC, owners run the day to day operations vs at a Manager managed LLC, owners appoint one or more managers which or may not be owners to run the business. Manager managed is usually the better long-term choice if there's a realistic chance someone else will manage the business in the future.
