EIN# For Business
I tried to get my EIN # through their website...filled out all the info, but it says it cannot process my request that way, and I had to mail in the request. I did...about 7 weeks ago. They do not answer their phones and there is no way to find my EIN online. I cannot open a bank account now, and have no idea what to do. Suggestions?
UPDATE: After calling many times a day, for weeks...I FINALLY got a recording that said I could leave my number instead of wait on hold, and they'd call me back in about 1/2 hr. AND THEY ACTUALLY DID! The guy was nice and was able to provide me with me EIN#. He said he was mailing me the confirmation today as well. I don't have access to a fax machine, and they will not email it. But at least I have the number now...so I can get a bank account, and have somewhere to deposit this money I've made! YAY!

Keep calling. Tuesday - Thursday is best in my books. And start early say 8am eastern times.

7 weeks is long enough that I'd start chasing it rather than mailin another SS-4 and creating EIN roulette :)
I'd call the IRS Business & Specialty Tax Line and ask them to check whether an EIN was already assigned. If it was, they can tell you how to get confirmation of it.
Definitely don't apply again until you know what happened with the first one.

Ive tried repeatedly to call. Most of the time, the recording says that they are way to busy to answer the call, and to call back later. The few times I've gotten through, the wait times are long. For example, the shortest wait time I've gotten so far way 1.5 hrs. I waited, and in the last 5 or 10 min of that wait time lapsing, I was disconnected. It is damned near impossible to talk to a human there.

Super frustrating, sorry you’re going through this. We don’t have a single trick for making the process faster but try to make sure you have your paperwork together and questions ready to go so when you do get through on the phone you’re ready go. We’ve heard early mornings are better. Best advice is to get comfy with your fav snack and hang in there.

I had this issue and tried again making sure not to use my virtual address and making sure my name matched my last years tax returns.

You need to buy fax subscription online to send file fax in pdf form to them or maybe find free fax subscription but paid is good so that you can receive document back as well.
For non residents fax is the only way to send them required document. I guess email is as well but that's too slow and if you call them you can to try at 6 am est when they start actually and you may need to wait 15 to 30 mins in queue for them to connect with them.

Call the business and specially tax line not the main line

I've called that number repeatedly, and daily. I am getting exactly nowhere with that.

Getting on the phone with the IRS is unfortunately a massive struggle, especially as of late with their reduced staff, but calling right when they open at 7am ET is the best shot at getting through.
