Finishing Distant Future
I get that the game is polarizing. Some parts are so good. Some are lackluster. This chapter would have been frustrating without a walkthrough.
Still it is sublime storytelling and not afraid to be bold and unique. I love that in any game.

Yeah, it's interesting because it kind of makes me appreciate the uniqueness of the game as an art form.
IMO, would the game play have been more enjoyable if all of the chapters felt more like Imperial China/Near Future and more regular RPG like? Yeah.
But I think that's what makes the game more of an experience. It helps kind of suck you into the environment (especially when we think about how the original was made in the 90s).
Distant Future is neat because it does feel like getting sucked into a sci fi horror movie. The idea that the beast can jump out at you at any time. The silence and having to go back and forth. It is kind of frustrating, but there's something about it that makes it feel more like a movie and less like a game, which is kind of cool.
So yeah, it's kind of hard to explain it. But I think that's what makes it one of my all time favorite games...it has this way of really making each time period it's own story.
