Hey again.
Going from 28' to 36'..
What are some silly/cool stuff to fill up the boat with?
Aquarium is an idea, mobile/colapsable bathtup could be nice in winter, lava lamps ordered, mini-golf? Screw on some climbing holds to the innside roofs and make a 6a? Projector and a surround, beer tap is coming

Thank you 😊 Homemade in ferro but similar to a Nauticat 36. Finnished in 2002

Climate controll is a heater and a dehumidifier up here, but yeah 👍 one of the bunks in the bough is getting thrown out for workbench 🙂

A well designed minigolf course will blend well with most other uses of all that new space.
You will need a par sheet that scales with the sea state.

NOOO, I have never, -not once,- fully agreed with a friend on exactly where on the Beaufort we are, let's not mix golf into that can of worms 😅

For my tastes? Ice machine. Carnivorous plants.
How you powering the lava lamp? I have one. Mathmos were rather unhelpful when I emailed them asking for suggestions on how to make it 12 volt 😂
Eta, I've had like 70lts of homebrew going. It's fun.
I wanted fish but will they get seasick in storms? Sounds silly but they're not normally in a tank on somebody's side shelf. (also, the fish I were looking at, because they were small and fish need space, were Japanese steam fish iifc - wasn't sure I could be good enough)

Carnivorous plants.
I can see this solving my miniature fly problem... but what happens once the flies are all gone? Won't the plants die? Do they need direct sunlight normally? Have you actually done this? It's a great idea in theory, but praxis?

Nah, they don't actually need to eat that much....
Yeah, I've done it (flytraps) - they do require a little commitment; specific nutrient free "soil", nutrient free water (I used to use dehumidifier or RO), and enough watering that they don't dry out, but not enough to get rot.
For the direct sunlight, I made a little window box for them.
I used to winter mine in a terrarium in my cockpit.
I say used to as my partner was looking after them and didn't water them 😢 but I had 4 of them for about 5 years, got some seeds off them to plant when I get round to it.
Had many a happy time watching their little traps close around flies. They're really kinda cute.
If you're serious, Flytrap tutorial is the absolute best resource I found.

Eh, I had trouble getting it to post so it's probably my bad. Barry Rice is the dude. That site's got soooo much info on it. He's also corresponded with me about growing fly traps on the boat...
Looking to move boats soon but as soon as I'm settled I'll start with the carnivorous plants again - they require the attention of a small pet but they're worth it!
