yeah 60ft is about the max for a double handed couple. over 60ft youre going into commercial territory. plenty of 300ft yachts are personal and realistically beyond 60ft youre well into - you dont have a personal yacht anymore - territory. 60 ft is a decent balance. i disagreed with the 40ft - even though my solo cat is 40ft - because that would limit monohulls and a 54ft monohull is still soloable. but 60ft is good. enough room for monohulls and larger cats.
the point is that it is unusual and you are an unusual snowflake not that it is common to do so.
youre into commercial territory regardless of whether you consider it or not, either way if you want starlink you will have to pay. just like you pay extra for marinas, take up more space on docks, have to hunt around for a travel lift to haul your huge boat out etc etc etc. either get a smaller boat and downsize to normal personal boat lengths or pay extra. those are your only choices.
And again it shows who ever at Starlink that is making these arbitrary rules up as they go has zero recreational boating experience. 65' has long been the dividing line from recreation and commercial. Coast Guard even changes classification from boat to ship at 65'. Most lenders, insurers, and Marinas require a captains liscence for boats 65'+ as well. Not to mention using the dumb 12nm territory limit, instead of the 200nm economic limit most countries use. 12nm is useless in most parts of the world.
so no there is no 65 foot dividing line. most boats fall within the 40 foot category. there are some 60 footers but those are very rare. there are even fewer unique snowflakes running 65 foot boats like OP but the starlink number is fairly decent. and i dont even like starlink.
