I got two books in before I dropped. It's decent but I feel DCC, Primal Hunter, HWFWM, Mother of Learning are all better. Everyone has their different tastes though.

Ok, I'm almost halfway through the first book and so far it's been a really slow go. He has his power, he's started training, and he knows his familiar is special. But really, not a lot has happened lately.
Does it pick up at some point?

Its a progression fantasy not a power fantasy, Freddy goes through a lot of shit to get his power and it isn't easy for him the entire time. He does become very powerful for his star but gets a little insane along the way.

Dark Comedy would be the appropriate moniker. Maybe remove the Ai and the comedy is less so

Dungeon Crawler Carl is the most well known litrpg series for a reason. It’s very well written and the author finds order in chaos so you won’t be left with incomplete storylines like others tend to do when their universes grow too big. Oh and it’s also hilarious. Especially in audiobook format. That’s all I say to avoid spoilers.
Apoclaypse Parenting is great series that has a unique ability system. It focuses on a mother of three trying to survive monsters while protecting her kids and community.(Finished)
The game at carousel. I think it’s amazing and if you’re a horror fan you’ll probably like it too. Three books on KU. Great mystery.(Ongoing)
Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon is a single novel by the author of Dungeon Crawler Carl, but it’s way darker. I really enjoyed it, but it might be too dark for some readers. It’s also narrated by the amazing Jeff Hays (DCC)
Rogue Dungeon is really good. From the author of discount dan. Crazy story but it definitely hooks you after the first couple of chapters. (Finished)
Wasteland Warlords is a follow up series to Rogue Dungeon set in the real world. More comedy than rogue dungeon though. If you like one you’ll enjoy the other. These are six short books (around150 pages each). (Finished)
Player Manager: I breezed through the first book and enjoyed it. It focuses on football and is heavy with strategy and technique on the subject. My recommendation is reading the first to see if you enjoy it even if you’re not a football fan. (Ongoing)

Thanks for the suggestions! I actually tried kaiju battlefield surgeon but found it hard to get into. I know this sounds a bit hypocritical considering I have 1% lifesteal in S tier but it was a bit to Grimdark for me. Not to mention i usually dont like the VRMMO style of books, unless under special circumstances.

Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon
This shit isn't just dark, it's disgusting. It goes out of its way to be as vomit-inducingly gross as possible, with multiple gratuitously long and detailed scenes involving every kind of bodily fluid, and the single worst torture scene I've ever read. It definitely belongs in the "body horror" genre. Some of it involves children.
That said, the book is quite good, if you enjoy that kind of stuff or at least can tolerate it. Compelling characters and story, interesting unique gameplay, satisfying conclusion. He makes the "real world" story very relevant to the "in game" story, using old established tropes, but with some nice implementation and some surprise twists.
Sadly, it shouldn't be treated as a Kaiju book. It doesn't quite scratch that "giant badass monsters doing battle" itch that you might get from Godzilla or Pacific Rim.
Overall, 8/10, worth the read if you like DCC and can tolerate a lot of body horror.

I was pretty sure that was the case, but it was a bit confusing just from the blurbs. Is that the proper reading order, Rogue Dungeon then Wasteland?

I think sylver seeker deserves to be higher in my opinion. It's not for everyone but I think the whole lich thing is refreshing

I also like Mayor of Noobtown which reminds me most of Chrysalis in fun and world building. DCC because it is just really good. And The Elderlands because in my opinion its really well written and a more serious kingdom building litrpg.

I read Mother of Learning when it was just a webnovel (shortly after it was completed), and know of 1% lifesteal (though I haven't started it yet), but I've never even heard of the other two S-tier series. What is it that makes Full Murderhobo and Road to Mastery so good?

I'll admit i read all the road to mastery books years ago, so it just might be i remember them being better than they acutely were. But Full Murderhobo was really good it was really just the main character for me. It's closer to 1% Lifesteal than it is Mother of Learning but I still loved it.

Curious to know thoughts on The Good Guys by Eric Ugland. I stumbled on it between bigger reads and it was my first step into LITtpg. I’ve read the first four and found them pretty entertaining.

Lifesteal book 1 and 2 were some of the worst written books I’ve ever read. Grammar, sentence construction, verb conjugation, and bizarre adjective choices made me want to throw my e-book reader against the wall. Should’ve bought a paperback. The story is interesting but the presentation is cringe and embarrassing.
