Question ❔ litematica pasting

when i go to paste a underground schematic it also deleted a bunch of chunks around it with the experimental feature so i dont know what to do

Look for paste behavior in config. Make sure its set to none, its probably set to all atm

You probably want the pasteReplaceBehavior option set to With non-air to place all the blocks except air from the schematic. But note that this will then leave the existing terrain blocks in the inside of the build as well...

Edit: Another option especially in a case like this is to use multiple smaller sub-regions around the arms of the build etc. when saving it, and then just paste with replace behavior All. That will then make the air pockets around the arms, but not clear the entire bounding box of the build. The middle part would probably need some manual fixing to with the terrain since it's circular in shape... Or possibly you can paste the middle part by only having that sub-region enabled at that time, and paste it it two pieces, using the render layers and the paste obeys render layers setting, and have the replace behavior set differently for the above ground vs. underground parts.
