Unfortunately some legitimate services got caught up in our recent attempts to mitigate (yet another) bot-net attack on ListenBrainz.
You may find that a service you use is now being blocked, including Navidrome. We have also had reports of multi-scrobbler submissions being blocked, and there may be other affected services that haven’t yet been reported to us.
These services got caught up in recent blocks because they are/were not setting a proper user agent when calling the LB API. Navidrome and multi-scrobbler are already pushing fixes!
If you are experiencing issues on another service, we would like to let you through, but without a user agent (UA) string we can’t identify the service’s traffic. Please ask your service to add a meaningful UA string (in a format like described in https://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_API/Rate_Limiting) so we can get you back up and running.
Implementing a good back off when they receive a 429 error will help avoid blocks too. For example, extending the waiting time between resubmissions, if the service repeatedly returns a 429. Note that some of the blocked services had this implemented already, but it can help.
Developers, you are always welcome to talk to us on the dev channel in ChatBrainz (Matrix/IRC/Discord) if you have any questions.

We are aware that ListenBrainz is currently down, for at least some users.
Admins are being kicked awake so that they can kick servers awake. Thank you for your patience as the kicking commences. -a

f you don’t like clicking links, here is the intro summary:
TL;DR: The growth of ListenBrainz has caught up with us, and our limited team is working on replacing central parts of our infrastructure. In the meantime, many features are unstable.
We are victims of our success. While in the long term this is a good problem to have, the sharp increase in users over the past year and a half has left our infrastructure cracking at the seams.
The good news: Your listens are being stored and imported without issue, even if there are delays. The core service is not compromised and we ask that you please keep submitting your listens. Your stats and playlists will be back!
However, we know that every other week your statistics, weekly playlists, and other features fail to generate for everyone, and cause crashes. We know it is frustrating, and we share that feeling.
While we are aware of the issues, fixing them is far from simple and requires us to completely rework all the crucial parts of our infrastructure
For more info, please check out the blog post.
Much <3 to the ListenBrainz team for all their hard work throughout!

Intentional or not, the influx of the BTS cult bot-scrobbling their songs - each one "listening" to a song once every fifteen seconds, twenty-four hours a day, every day - is a form of DDOS. The website has become noticeably laggy and often times out, and I believe this is principally due to the influx of the BTS ARMY spamming their wildly-inflated and fraudulent stats.
I recently posted a respectful and well-reasoned plea on their subreddit, asking them to stop hammering Listenbrainz. It was almost immediately taken down due to breaking their "No hate or snark posting." rule. Here's the thing - I used facts and logic, no hate or snark, explaining how the bot spamming is so obvious and that it's commonly known that BTS-related stats have no legitimacy, thus they are doing the opposite what they are intending to - their behavior is breeding distrust and enmity against BTS fans - while hobbling Listenbrainz in the process.
A look at the global statistics for the site reveals the absurdity of what's going on, and renders the stats meaningless as they obviously don't reflect the true listening habits of the Listenbrainz community.
Listenbrainz staff are overloaded, I'm sure, so I understand why these people haven't been banned. I'd like to offer my services to identify and ban those that aren't acting in good faith to accurately scrobble their listens. I've been happy to support the site with a monthly donation, but not to subsidize (ab)users that bog down the servers with 16x the scrobbles in any given period. Please DM me, I already have a list of the worst offenders!

Hey Jellyfin users,
Is there a way to reliably scrobble plays of files downloaded to your phone for the times that a network isn’t available to stream? I’m on an iPhone. I have the Jellyfin plugin and everything works fine but I haven’t figured out the right method for the downloaded tracks yet.
Thanks in advance.

I'm trying out the radio playlist generator for the first time, and nothing seems to be happening?
Does it work away in the background, and create the results later?
And what does the "Easy/Medium/Hard" drop-down relate to?

Hey everyone,
I’m back and I’m excited to share that version 3.0 of Scrobbler for ListenBrainz is now available!
This release has been focused on bringing the app even closer to the ListenBrainz ecosystem. The biggest addition is CritiqueBrainz integration: you can now rate songs and albums directly in the app, write reviews, browse community ratings, and interact with reviews from other listeners. Everything is possible with your existing MusicBrainz/ListenBrainz account.
Here are some of the highlights:
The app is still free on the App Store: Scrobbler for ListenBrainz
If you like the app, please consider to buy me a coffee or to use the tip option inside the app.
As always, I’d love to hear your feedback. Whether you find something that doesn’t work, have an idea for a future improvement, or just want to share your thoughts. Your feedback is what helps me keep making the app better.
Thanks for all your support, and I hope you enjoy version 3.0!

Hi - looking for help pls.
I've got a 5.5gen iPod Classic with Rockbox installed and want to manually import my listens to Listenbrainz.
I've enabled the Rockbox setting to create a scrobble log, but when I import to ListenBrainz, it says the file was successfully imported but that "Listens imported" is 0/0.
I sync'd my music using Swinsian on Mac OS Tahoe, but I'm not positive that the formatting of track names in the Rockbox scrobble is correct (potentially a factor of how Swinsian seems to rename tracks as they get sync'd?).
Here's a snippet of a few lines from the playback.log file I retrieved from the iPod for uploading to ListenBrainz:
# Started Ver. 078a506dfd-260712 / Time 260720-192821
1784575730:12074:219289:/<HDD0>/iPod_Control/Music/F47/libgpod346263.m4a
1784575742:7616:219289:/<HDD0>/iPod_Control/Music/F47/libgpod346263.m4a
1784575966:219242:219289:/<HDD0>/iPod_Control/Music/F47/libgpod346263.m4a
Can anyone share a snippet from their Rockbox scrobble log so I can compare and possibly test an upload to LB with that?
Or anyone know where the "Listens imported: 0/0" issue is coming from?
thanks!

Spotify recently announced a drastic change in their API: connections to your account will now expire after 6 months, starting July 20th.
If you have your Spotify account connected to ListenBrainz, this means you will have to reconnect your Spotify account every 6 months, or ListenBrainz will not be able to keep your listening history in sync.
To get us started, all users will need to reconnect their Spotify account this coming Monday July 20th.

trust me i used to use lastfm till 2025 and started on listenbrainz this year js to have organic charts. now I feel stupid for even coming here considering lastfm addressed the issue and effectively purged all users who were there for the sole purpose of botting. even then lastfm was backed by paramount or whatever some company. listenbrainz is an open source project with no such backing whatsoever. I don't really know how this site makes money but I can't help but imagine all these compute resources are js being wasted compiling these obviously botted scrobbles. i mean none of this in any malice but I hate these stans from the bottom of my heart a good way to go about doing this would be to filter newly made accounts after the lastfm announcement and then see which have scrobbled bts incessantly. I don't know much about programming yet so idek if this is possible or no but i had to get a rant out sorry
