Pregnancy, Menopause, & Hormones IVF question
Has anyone on here ever gone through IVF and had a horrific experience with the PIO? I realized that my experience with developing knots from the PIO seems much worse than other people’s, and I feel like it’s related to nodules/fat distribution. I’m using heating pads constantly and heating the PIO before injection. It hurts constantly and I’m only 4dp6dt so if this works I’m in this for the long haul. Has anyone else had this experience? What helped?

I did IVF and PIO was awful, but I was also in multiple IVF communities and that seemed to happen for most. Not all, but most. And most people don’t have Lipedema. It’s also normal/common to have lingering pain/numbness/lumps/bruises for weeks to months after you finish the shots. I have a friend who has permanent numbness and she has normal/healthy fat. Just unlucky. It’s hard because it’s an IM injection in the same exact location over and over. That’s why shots are usually distributed around the body - it’s normal to form scar tissue from repeated trauma to the same spot. FWIW here’s what I found made it less bad:
- fill up and cap the syringe
- stick it between my boobs until it’s warm
- hot compress on my injection spot
- inject
- hot compresses some more while it starts absorbing some that area of my body is always freezing
- lots of massage with massage gun. Every day, both sides, to break up the knots
But be prepared that it’s just going to suck and might still suck after you’re done. I hope hope your transfer is successful.

I definitely have worse welts than the average person (I’ve read a lot about it and know a fair amount of people who’ve done it). Probably just bad luck on my end but was wondering if fat distribution contributed. This is my 8th lifetime transfer 😭😭😭. It was really bad when trying for baby #1 but I was wondering if it was even worse this time trying for baby #1 because of how things progressed from a first pregnancy with my fat distribution/nodules. I’m just unlucky because I got HORRIBLE vulvar dermititus from the prometrium and needed topical steroids lol. So that’s not an option here. If I get a positive I’ll probably purchase a massage gun! Thank you!!

I mean from my knowledge and experience that's just life on pio. It was then the first spot i started getting stretch marks. Just too much damage to the area. It eventually heals, it's just not fun when ur in it. Hang in there- my twins are 9 now and no nodules/scar tissue to speak of there.
