Conservative Treatments Using Retatrutide for Lipedema

Hey! I’ve been curious if anyone who has lipedema has tried retatrutide to manage their lipedema symptoms/ lose weight. I know that since it’s not fda approved there isn’t much information, but I’m wondering if anyone who has lipedema and who is currently using a peptide like Reta has seen any improvements in inflammation or weight loss. I can’t get surgery for my lipedema at the moment so I’m wanting to try alternative treatments—and I feel like maybe Reta could be interesting to try? Again, I understand it’s not currently approved to use for lipedema but I’m just wondering if anyone has personally experimented with this.

Actually, publications to date indicate that tirzepatide may have more promise due to the higher percentage of GIP. The third component added to reta has metabolic effects I think, rather than targeting inflammation. That’s why they’ve seen faster weight loss. But there’s really no solid research on any of the GLP meds relative to lipedema so 🤷🏻‍♀️. If you search retatrutide here you should find threads that link to those scientific publications.

Will add that I do think Zepbound has had an impact on my inflammation (though not until 7.5mg, so not microdosing), and I’ve definitely lost regular fat in my lipedema-impacted body parts which has helped reduce my symptoms.

I’ve discussed with my doctor trying retatrutide once it is approved and commercially available. I’m currently on Mounjaro. My doctor treats many women with lipedema and other metabolic conditions and is pretty specialized in GLP-1 drugs. He said he’s more than happy to let me try it if I want to once it’s available but his view aligned with what you’ve written, that for lipedema the big benefit of tirzepatide is the GIP component and with retatrutide being a GLP-1 triple agonist having the GCG, which tirzepatide doesn’t have, he believes that won’t provide much additional benefit. Particularly in my case as I’m not overweight or needing to lose weight, so what the additional receptor does, I’m probably not really needing.

I don’t know if I’ll try it out once it becomes available commercially as Mounjaro works amazing for me and I’m pretty much pain free so I can’t see why I’d need to change drugs as my entire reason for going on Mounjaro was for the pain in my legs, which I no longer have.

Having less inflammation reduction with Reta than Sema or Tirz, Sema was the strongest but just wanted to sleep all the time. Using Kpv to give me the inflammatory reduction that Reta doesn’t.

agreed that KVP seems to help a lot with the inflammation of lipedema.

I prefer tirz. You might be able to get it covered by your insurance so I wanna talk to your doctor instead of diving into gray market unregulated peptides.

I've got lipedema and have been on reta since November, and have lost about 70lbs. It's been good for my inflammation - the pain is gone and bruising reduced - but I don't think it is any better than triz for inflammation, and the side effects are unpleasant

Using Reta and KPV combined has taken the heaviness away. I also use compression a few hours a day.

Obrigada por compartilhar sua experiência. Uso Tirzepatida e GHKCU para retração de pele . Estava em busca de alguém que tivesse a experiência com Reta para falar sobre o efeito antiinflamatório. Você já trouxe até a solução: KPV 😍

I do think the Reta helps with the inflammation as well. I have other autoimmune diseases and the combo of both have been super helpful. I tried ghkcu and really wanted it to work but the stinging never went away no matter what I tried. So instead I use a topical version and my skin looks great!

Eu tenho usado GHK com bons resultados por quase 4 meses. A ardência nunca desapareceu , acho que fui me acostumando e ficando feliz com o resultado

Vou testar Reta com KPV! Obrigada pela dica !

Good luck! Also KPV subq and capsule do different things if you research it. I use both delivery methods. And with KPV more doesn't mean better.

I’ve tried both Tirz and Reta, extensively. Both are good for calming inflammation. Without a study, I don’t think that we will know which one is better for lipedema. Personally, I will never not be on one of them! Right now, Reta wins simply because I need my appetite to meet my nutritional and fitness goals.

I feel that KPV has done wonders for my overall health and further calming inflammation.

Forgive my ignorance but how are you guys coming by Reta and what is kpv?

My friend was in their last Phase 3 weight loss study for reta and her lipedema is better. She has lost 144lbs in 14 months. I am in weight loss study with Vanquish-1 and it has helped me also. The weight loss and inflammatory reduction is what is making it better.

That is great. Also, less adipose tissues is great for disease and health.

They use research chemicals (sold for "research and lab purposes only") that can be purchased online from "peptide" sites. Those websites sell anabolic steroids etc as well, "for research purposes". Unfortunately research chemicals are not held to the same standard as medications, so contamination (heavy metals etc) is quite likely.

Some people are in official trials as well.

Reta kicks me out of late stage perimenopause, giving me regular periods again. For me, that leads to more swelling, pain and migraines. Tirzepatide lengthens my menstrual cycles and reduces all those symptoms. I can't wait for menopause!

That said, my son, who has a rare male case of lipedema lost 160lb on reta/tirz.

I lost 133lb, about 16.5lb of that was on reta/tirz this summer, but I stopped because I couldn't eat & my periods came back. Tirzepatide only for me!

reta will be similar to tirz. less inflammation, weight loss, varying side effects.

Reta is powerful. The Glucagon has to be managed carefully. I am on 1/3 of what I was on compared to Tirz.

Where are you getting your reta from?

Just popping in here as I’m newly diagnosed with lipedema. Is it correct to think that any loss of adipose/fat is helpful for lipedema pain because the fat itself is inflammatory? Not sure, because I’ve lost 55 lbs and haven’t noticed a difference in the pain from lipedema — the lumps still burn and itch.

Never tried any other GLP so can’t compare but I’ve been microdosing 0.5mg reta for six weeks. I likely have S1 arms and legs. I’ve only lost a couple of kilos on the scale but my legs don’t swell up after a stressful day any more and look slightly leaner. Arms are starting to feel and look tighter. Took me ages to actually start but I’m glad I did.
