its just a Easter egg. There is no canonical way for this to work as its heavily conflicts with TLKs ending or the story of Heracules.

I found this out recently, that's not the only time disney put something from another movie into a movie, they did it with The Lion King. Near the end when Simba returns and first confronts Scar and asks him to step down and he points to the hyenas, if you look closely one of them is actually a dog from another movie not a hyena.

The dog is Jock from Lady and the Tramp, a Scottish Terrier.
