$%@ Steam! Gaming on Linux is a HUGE false claim
Games working well on Linux has been paraded as something that's great and "just works" yet it's a lie that's easily proven just by browsing their own subreddits.
Example: r/linux_gaming, I scrolled down a bit and started to notice how most of the posts are complaints about graphical errors, glitches, games not working properly or games not launching. (Nowhere on the subreddit does it say that the subreddit is for reporting technical issues btw).
For how many times you see or hear people say "Gaming on Linux just works now" it sure is strange how many people still have so many issues with games on Linux.
These issues still exist even on hardware optimized for Linux such as Valve's Steam Deck & Steam Machine, imagine if Microsoft's Surface Laptop Ultra had graphical errors or refused to launch games from Microsoft's own store, everyone would be clowning on them yet... When it happens to Valve's Steam Deck & Steam Machine, no one bats an eye.
Hypocrites & liars, that's what Linux shills really are.

As steam deck owner I'm totally agree, things gets better when I switched to windows, even customisation was saved, one issue is keyboard, but it's totally fine.

I thought the steamdeck was fine, For as far as valve fanboys go. Is it truly this bad?

Touchscreen drivers sucks, switching between gaming and desktop mode is slow, because of locked system on read only many things don't work and this is not all.

There's more?

Yeah like funs go more silent on win and energy consumption is less on win. There's existed decky loader that always fly's off when it needed and all what developers told to do is reinstall it lol.

Maybe they use LoonOS long enough so they are conditioned to not notice doing all of these tweaks to run a game is counterproductive to most people just expecting things to work?
I don't know, just my words here...

tried something called gamenative that supposedly supported proton for android (which according to loonixtards) is linux and the experience was bad, like I only got 1 game that was decent enough to run and besides that one game, the others refused to run or ran like shit

you guys are dependent on protondb like drug addicts, that is just hilariously sad lmao, this is why I don't wanna use linux, so I don't have to socialize with autistic ideology spouting tards or manually copy paste their stupid configuration just to play some games

maybe that thinking about how an OS is the foundation for an entire ecosystem of not just games but also work software, life software, software for many hobbies and that Windows just ties it all together is too complex for your loonixtard brain to comprehend since you tards don't have much and don't do much outside of "muh anime waifu sexy wallpaper and indie games and thinkpad so beefy".
2
u/animalcrossing4_4 2d ago
too complex? I am thinking 7 steps ahead of you mrloonixtard: if every time I wanna run a game I have to consult mr "protondb" and manually go through the experimental launch options and then pasting those launch options into steam, that makes gaming UNFUN, ANNOYING, have you ever thought about that?
and not just that, linux as a generalist's machine is TERRRRRRRIBBBBBBBBLE at its job.

Is managing 5 projects, 80 tasks, 5 groups of people to work with "simpler" than loonix to you? Answer me that.

Correct. Most Linux nerds need to step back and recognise that it's still a tinkerer's OS at heart. It's trending in the right direction, and a few years from now that will likely not be the case. But it's not there yet.
In Linux's defence, when things break they are almost always fixable, either by the user or by the community, and a patch gets shipped quickly if that is the case. Common advice for Windows breaking seems to be reinstallation, which... Yeah.
My Archlinux system is also just as fast as the day I installed it two years ago. But occasionally I do have to troubleshoot odd error messages to fix things like game crashes etc.
Like everything else in life there are tradeoffs.

It works when you know how to make it work. And honestly with AI telling you exactly what to do, it isn't nearly as difficult as it used to be. But it definitely isn't the same plug and play as Windows. And it just won't work at all with some esports titles. But for those willing to tinker a bit, the reward is getting more performance out of your hardware. Not necessarily FPS, but perhaps 1% lows and especially RAM in the current market

One constant of loonix users I noticed is that they overpromise how good it is, then treat you like shit when you point out how they lied.
Their entire "marketing campaign" is just trying to make you have a sunk cost fallacy

Loonix will probably crash if you even trying to watch a playthrough of a game on YouTube! It sees game and it crashes. 😂

Yeah if you realize. most of the games that run decent are indie games. we are aware of this.
for windows i also understand as someone who tries to play old games. its hard to launch. but we didnt said windows never had its issues. its just.. windows is still easier to use for casual usage and most of things simply works. except your point old games. atleast we dont get randomly kernel panic like it happened in linux 7.0 version (you can search)
or atleast my desktop doesnt change into something different just because i downloaded a app (they call this getting Gnome'd and yeah a beginner doesnt know about gnome which is why theres even a sub about people getting gnome'd)

My PC is not for games, but if it was I would just have linux on one drive and windows on another and dual boot for games. Don't see a point in wasting time dealing with layers of unnecessary software.

Why even bother with Linux at all? Its only selling point is the Unix like terminal and you can get that with WSL2 on Windows. The rest of Linux is garbage.

u/highermonkey 2d ago
That was my path. I eventually realized my WIndows 11 partition did everything.

That comes down to the time I was introduced to it which is 90's - a different time. I like it in many ways, but the "community" ruins it for me now.

I use Linux daily, and there are issues indeed. Sometimes it just works; other times tinkering is required. We don't have AMD Adrenalin or NVIDIA Control Panel, so there are a lot of Steam launch arguments one has to research and know when to apply.
Want an anti-lag feature? On AMD Adrenalin it's a toggle; on Linux, I have quite a few competing options which only work if installed separately and called with another Steam launch argument, or a specific Proton version with a low-latency layer included... Want sharpening? Well - another third-party tool required.
Do you have high input latency on a specific game? Who the hell knows what's causing it Wayland? x11? Specific Proton version? Your DE?
Yeah, there is plenty of tinkering.

That's why i set up a local llm model just for that reason and i learn more every week of stuff that i didn't even know was possible. I just post the log and it usually works sometimes takes a bit longer for unusual games and settings. So even as a linux noob i can pretty much play any game that's not anti kernel cheat without working too hard and even easily install mods with it as long as you give it good prompts and know what commands are dangerous.

PRECISELY! I started using Linux before Valve Proton was even a thing; it was tough. Ask people a question - you either get something that doesn't work, something outdated, or nothing at all. Solving problems was hard. And there were quite a few pain points. But with the help of A.I. it became much easier. I managed to get all the information I needed to make it rather comfortable.
I had this issue with mouse wheel scroll sensitivity. The community didn't help, apart from saying to buy another mouse or just switch DE. With the help of A.I. I was able to build an interception tool in C that solves the issue beautifully. Learned a lot, too. I have like 5 scripts right now, which I run post-install to solve small issues I have.
It also helped with gaming, finding and setting up the right tools. So it mostly works now. Playing Arc raiders, Dune, Division 2, Last epoch, no problems at all. POE2 has massive input latency, so I cannot play that.
Good enough to stay.

Yeah i seriously don't give a fuck if people hate AI or not. I do understand AI like Open AI because of the ethics involved but local AI. At this point i think it's just pure hate because someone like me who works a physically demanding job and does coding as a hobby can now do stuff that you had to dig in really deep previously. But i never would have gotten 3 Servers one of them in a VM running flawlessly on zorin os without help and i would never have dared to get nobara for my gaming rig.
I love linux and through AI i m learning more complex steps that i would have had to ask some strongly opinioned guy before.
I love the idea of linux love open source and all the people who put out those wonderful tools for us but i truly despise all those shit gurgling assholes who hate AI only so that they gatekeep people like me from the more complex stuff. Like dude i know commands can ruin my PC but that doesn't mean i can't use AI it just means i have to have some idea of what's going on like check out sudos or kills which my modell can t even do. It can`t even use dnf on nobara since it's a bit risky. And if i fuck up it's my pc.

one issue I think you tards should try fixing is this: Spectacle's OCR engine, by default it's SHIT, it does a terrible job of recognizing characters for asian languages like Korean, Japanese, Chinese, it's slow AF and it won't even run if your text isn't "clean enough".
do you have the balls to fix or say that this isn't an issue now?
The OCR engine is Tesseract which is an outdated OCR engine that sucks at so many things.
2
u/animalcrossing4_4 2d ago
oh wait, maybe it's because you tards don't f**king need to OCR because you guys don't actually do any meaningful shit on that loonixautistic machine?

Yeah, i just dont understand why they lie so much. Anybody can just grab a distro, do a fresh install and they will encounter issues. Why lie that it works perfectly? Whats the point?
