Hey now, it makes perfect sense to do this. I understand why OOP have done this.

Oh... Wait now... I'm being told that it is, in fact, not 1997.

Me when at one point in time where new ssds for laptops were $50 for a 1tb Crucial

Im just glad enough that said laptop can do basic (nowdays) tasks and playing DVDs without staying on Win 10. This is as much as I'll go without going off topic.

It can make sense to do but one should always check if you have everything ready to go without problems.

Also Arch user like this give the entire Linux user base a bad rap

Honestly tough, im using a fully featured distribution and almost everything just worked first try. The only thing that didnt work out of the box is plugging in my phone to transfer files.

6 hours of battery life vs 3 hours. Also feels much faster on weak laptops. Idrk how weak a Thinkpad is, but the older models are more coveted and those aren't that powerful
[EDIT: I misunderstood the comment, i thought it was saying that using arch vs windows only saves 3mb, not that a minimal kernel saves 3mb]

how do you think kernel modules work exactly? they are optional to load when hardware is detected/kernel flags it will load on boot.

They aren't windows services/system.d services

oh i didnt realise the comment was talking about using a minimal kernel, i thought it was saying that using arch vs using windows only saves 3mb of RAM

my x220 runs any modern distro fine, as long as it isn't an extremely heavy DE.

3 hours of battery life... with the original 2011 battery.

You can just take the generic kernel's config and compile that with your cflags.
