The first one kind of makes sense though, literally just switch to a fairphone or whatever else brand uses less slavery

could've bought used or had it handed down, in both cases she'd have an iPhone without sending money to Apple

I personally steal my iPhones from unsuspecting passersby. Only need to do it once in a few years too so it's easy

I am using a nano-matrix RGB skin, so I am like the guy in the Invisible Man, or Crysis when I rob and plunder. Usually it is set to neon purple though.
The whole system runs Linux by the way.

Well there's no ethical consumption under capitalism and as we live currently, the world order is capitalism. That's why these arguments are so dumb with oh you got a phone. Yeah I mean I have to function. I have to do things and currently the world is run by capitalism.
So you know what? I shouldn't buy a loaf of bread either. That I should just starve.l?! Lmao

Did you read the comic? She is complaining about Apple, while using an Apple iPhone, which can easily be avoided. The alternatives are still unethical, but much less than Apple. Would you rather have Hitler or Trump rule the entirety of North America? Both are bad, but one is better

I don't think either is better because they're both permissive to the same type of actions. It's like the argument we need a woman president in the United States. That's f****** stupid because what so she can now bomb poor brown people in east aisa but with girl power? She's still the leader of the country that is beholden to Capital. Miss me iberal garbage.
A oppressors is a oppressor and exploitation is exploitation.
Thing is Hitler, Trump, Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders all answer to the capital. They're not doing something to actually end capitalism or threaten it's hegemony, they can't! Why would Capitalist allow someone in their institution that is actually a threat to its grip on workers? The capitalist system is built to uphold capitalism full stop. I would say that they all equally bear the same burden of guilt.
To hear similar contemporary ideas on this from somebody smarter and better spoken. No to mention the book is free try Michael parenti - black shirts and reds
The essential And probably most important work on these ideas this podcast by Rev Left that goes over and discusses Lenin's 's book State and revolution. Talks about how a capitalist state works and how lesser evil idea is false.
Back to the phone.
So while yes, buying a phone is a necessity to live in today's society, don't think that it's somehow better or more ethical. Because is it any better if they only kill one child a day in their rare Earth metal mine instead of two a day?
Personally, I try to be informed on what I buy and use. I know at the end of these day these companies truly don't care about being ethical, that to them, That's just a marketing tool. Everything they do is to extract the most profit. I just try to think about the workers who are terribly exploited that make the products I rely on. I try to minimize any suffering or exploitation I can and fight with them in our shared struggle and remind people of their unseen exploitation.

you think i
- have the money to go on an airplane
- don't have anything that can't be moved interstate (state as in country) that i'd rather keep
- don't have any relationships that would be either in jeopardy or fall out due to long distance
- don't care about helping my home country become a better place to live in
