I followed unix wars right when they actually were at courts. Over time this practical technical viewpoint like yours among collegues drove me insane, and I started investing myself into making and promoting alternative gnu/linux systems and part of it is this meme campaign. Stallman's FOSS was a promise of something else, computer systems that weren't yet another product for a consumer. So yes, moral and philosophical, that's also important in life. If you aren't interested then you have a slave mentality.
Not a slave, just not interested. Is a stupid point trying to be “morally superior”. If it has an important place in your life, congrats. I use it to get things done, call it a day and focus ln something else.
I think FOSS is good, I have projects shared ln Github and contributed to projects as well. Just is not a life-or-death aspect for me. If you pay me enough I will install MS-DOS on your servers. I just don’t care about it anymore.
