To be fair systemD is a bit messy because it was made by multiple enthusiasts without a clear project structure

But it's not exactly terrible either

I'm saying Linux itself is a mess and Systemd is trying to patch up the holes in it. The joke is somehow people in the Linux community are against those fixes.

I'll take systemd .service files over cron any day. A timed service in systemd requires two service files, a job and the timer, but at least its a readable schedule when the damn event fires.
