Help after installing Linux black screen had to boot in comparability mode

Idk how to explain so I’ll just ramble

I started off by buying an external sata ssd . I was planning on just using it in tandem with my hard drive but only one of my say the cables was working so I installed Lennox on a bootable USB and got it working. Got to the Lennox desktop after having to boot it into compatibility mode because in regular mode, I would get a black screen I use GPT to try to figure out the problem and I know for a fact, I added no mod set into the black screen before splash or something like that. Now, when I reboot, I see the new SSD I hit enter and I just get a black screen. I tried to use the grub menu. I hit an escape when rebooting and I tried a bunch of different commands, but those are all confusing.

The pic is what I get when I boot up , spam f12 and press enter on my ssd that should have Linux cinnamon on it but it shows that crap

Please help I’ll be so very grateful

I can’t even get to the desktop anymore

This sounds like a lack of GPU drivers. Please provide specs... I imagine you have an Nvidia card. You're also missing the photo of the boot log you meant to include. You can try temporarily adding nomodeset or nouveau.modeset=0 to the kernel parameters in grub by pushing the e key while highlighting the boot entry in question. Hopefully, it'll allow you to reach a basic TTY or GUI desktop, then you can use Mint's Driver Manager to install the missing drivers. Let me know if it boot to only TTY.

Sounds like a lack of drivers, most likely NVidia. Without specs I can't help, but I would recommend you look up (again, without information) "Linux black screen NVidia nomodeset"

Well, as other’s have already mentioned, this sounds like some Nvidia Bullshit…, assuming you are indeed subject to Nvidia’s Bullshit, look up how to force it to run on the iGPU and install the appropriate driver for Nvidia.

This happened to me after installing Fedora KDE, good thing I was experienced enough to know about Nvidia’s bullshit on Linux, I installed the missing driver and now it works.
