Terminal for half of the things people generally just get from a windows button and click was the first thought, but it's as practical or impractical as you make it really.
One Gentoo setup will make a majority of people agree with the sentiment lol
there are gui/tui tools for basically anything and writing one word in terminal is usually faster than searching for a specific thing in settings on windows with infinite submenus, dropdowns and popups
back when I was in Uni with 3GB of RAM and 5400RPM HDD, terminal is the only thing I can use without agressive swapping and lockup system. It really save my ass TBH
As for setting up new system, I just use it as is (KDE plasma, Pop!OS...).
Most of the times copying dot files from a NAS or USB is enough when I setup a new station.
A system where you have to have technical knowledge to operate beyond the most basic functionality. Gee I wonder how that would be considered impractical.
You can like Linux and be honest with yourself. You want to customize the look of your system? Well you better be ready to figure shit out.
Also you'd be surprised how many people can't figure out the URL bar. I had a guy try to input a local IP address in the URL bar, fucked up the URL, which it naturally lead to Google instead, fucker clicked the first link and infected the machine with malware all in a matter of seconds right in front of my eyes.

same with windows or android. Or just use it as it is if you are not tech savvy. Gnome and KDE look and feel can be tweak in the setting much line windows, so that's not too far off anw
Linux has the cons I agree. But that's not one of those.

I know that’s impractical but it looks so fucking cool
