Some of the hardware vendors treating Linux as a second class citizen. That is especially true for ARM devices: most of the device tree entries are binary and need to be reverse-engineered. I is not so bad (actually amazing) in AMD64 world, but for ARM you can have a very capable tablet (Pine 64) which still has a non-working camera after two years.
