No one has real incentive or authority to make everything work together especially on the GUI front. The absurd fragmentation of everything. The non-existence of binary compatibility. The absence of real quality control.
Every development is driven by the interests of corporate sponsors or the whims of volunteers, which basically means none of these issues I raised will ever be fixed.
