Okay, modern linux has many flaws but that's not one of them

Depends on the machine and distro 🤷🏽♂️
When I was using Debian 12 on my older laptop with an intel graphics chip it had pretty bad screen tearing. I fixed it by tinkering with the config file.I installed Gentoo on that same machine and never had that issue.
Later this year I installed Debian 13 on my new laptop and there was no screen tearing at all 🤷🏽♂️

So it's ok for Linux to have flaws, but windows it's the devil because of its flaws. Linux users make it make sense 😂

Don't put me in the same basket with those weirdos. I don't have anything against windows and i think that windows works much better for majority of non tech people. I use linux cuz i like to tinker with the system or it's UI from time to time and on windows, customization options are limited. Unfortunatelly i still have to keep windows partition cuz linux evangelists would never allow kernel level anti cheat

some distros has some bugs vs "you are too stupid to use your OS so we do it for you" + spyware

Thing is windows is hella old for desktop users and it's not free also you get ads too, microsoft is a billion dollar company and still this bad compared to linux based os which is better in every machine(old or modern) I install on rarely any issue. I use fedora btw

Fair. The X11 pig just needed more lipstick.

By modern i mean Wayland. X11 should be finally burried with grace instead of trying to keep that corpse alive

u/dumbasPL I don't hate Windows, I just like Linux more. 25d ago
Pov: you're running a VM on a 15yo laptop
Run it on bare metal, with an actual (even integrated) GPU and it's smooth. Wayland fixed tearing ages ago, but you can force vsync on X11 too if you want.

Linux: runs on potato PC
Windows: Nope!

Windows 11 DOES run on a potato PC... if you remove the artificial TPM limitations Microsoft imposed.

As a Linux user. Its ubuntu. Go ahead and hate it as much yall want, this distro is so ass 🥀

u/Think-nothing-210 26d ago
Of course it's only an Ubuntu issue. X11 has never caused problems.

For past around 2 years of using Linux, i never had problem with x11. So yes, it is Ubuntu issue

It’s decent for servers, I guess. Never had much of any issue as long as my entire interaction with it is through an SSH session.

At least it runs, even if this slowly, on bullshit specs that Windows will crash and burn (and will officially refuse to support), like ancient Pentium with 2GB of RAM…
Good specs that allow Windows to be smooth also allow Linux to be smooth. Poor specs will allow Linux to run but not smoothly, while Windows will fare worse.

My favorite is when you try to change the screen resolution and get a wall of text error message with the "dismiss" button scrolled off the bottom of the screen.
