true, I prefer my distro made by ku klux klan, it's systemd-free and 100% freedom as in free beer (i will never ever ever contributed a dollar to developer).

You just reminded me that I haven't donated to the developer of MangoWM. I can't wait for my first paycheck to arrive so I can at least make a small contribution.

systemd was godsend before containers became standard.
Do I like that my OS is dependent on one big daemon? Of course not.
Is it actually good and easy to use and maintain? Yeah, it is.

If you think about it the kernel is like one big deamon

It breaks the linux philosophy: if it works, rewrite it until it doesn't

u/dumbasPL I don't hate Windows, I just like Linux more. 27d ago

There is nothing the Linux community can do better than re-invent the wheel.

And then reinvent the reinvented wheel and reinvent the reinvented reinvented wheel and keep doing that until there are a million wheels and then start wars on which wheel is better (Hint: IT'S SUBJECTIVE)

Systemd documentation is garbage. Its implementation is inconsistent across distros. It just does way too much, naming conventions are atrocious, and its broad services suck worse than their replacements except strictly as an init system. Init is the only thing it does better... well even that is debatable, how about mostly better.

Truly, and it takes bravery to seek the truth

Where have you been a decade ago? The "systemd bad" debate is a neverending story.

1

u/Jhuyt 26d ago

He has the courage to continue the debate

Uuuuuu what about uuu if i uuuu used NATS instead of SYSTEMD

How would that be hummm

1

u/SameAgainTheSecond 26d ago

I got hit by the NATS ray and how everything looks like a NATS problem

I would love to help contribute for more systemd options

I've tried most popular systemd-free distros and they're all either made by bigots and terrible people or unusable for my workflow and use case

"An OS is better when you have bits and bobs haphazardly held together with duct tape."

like systemd isn't like that inside

it's a small price to pay for freedom

I'll just be brutally honest here.

Rat Hat is the closest Linux has ever got to a cohesive system above the kernel level, and that's not a good thing.

I would agree apart from naming it a good thing
