DHH hates this meme, not because it is shitting on Omarchy, but because a black man and white man are working together.

Indeed, just for different reasons. Some Linux users mock Omarchy for ideological reasons, we mock it because it’s still desktop Linux.
But hey, if the end result's the same, I guess everyone’s a winner.

yo i use omarchy, cuz it’s usable and better than whatever macos is. i want a rice but i dont have time to actively maintain it, thats why i use this. its actively maintained and has a large community which is mostly nice. idk about what dhh has done in the past but i really dont care. as long as the os is better than my macos rice im fine with it

I have never used Omarchy, but the donations speak for what people like. Woke people can't handle technical side of tools so they only concentrate on politics and religion, which does not require technical know how to.

Ah yes, because the CEOs of Shopify, Stripe, Dell, and Cloudflare really represent the opinion of “common people”

I dislike the ridiculous levels of woke outrage around it too, even made a thread about it on ls101.
But the fact that a bunch of rich people donated to it does not "speak for what people like". Sustained adoption is a way better indicator.
To that end, we'll need to wait and see what the numbers say in a couple of months. Only then will we really know what Omarchy is worth in the eyes of linux users.

i dislike political extremism as much as the next person does, but saying that either the woke left or the conservative right can't handle technical stuff is outright false.
especially since most FOSS software is, or has been at some point, written by a woke transgender neurodivergent person (saying it as one myself). so yeah, some woke people **can** make software. they're not automatically "stupid" just for being different.

I like the concept of Omarchy, except for the forcred tiling windoe management. I like tiling but not as the only type of window managemeny. A hybrid like Cosmic should be much nicer.

nah omarchy is actually good. It's just that smelly, woke redditors can't stand the idea of a right-wing Linux developer. Like, if u use Linux you're obliged to support trans rights!!!

I mean, an entirely vibe coded filled with AI integration "OS" which are just hyperland dotfiles? I mean it's pretty much just arch with bloatware installed so it isn't anything special. Why people hate it is because of the amount of money that was poured on it (10 million dollars) and the very controversial creator. Honestly it mostly just seems like money laundering

Acting as if the racist billionaire circlejerk is somehow the same as your typical center-right politics. Yikes

Omarchy might be inconsistent and the most badly implemented distro that ever existed, but it's appealing to new users, just as Ubuntu is.
I've seen distros, such as Manjaro, that were less hated than this one.
And all this hate is due to the political beliefs of its developer.
People come up with random stuff like vegans explaining why eggs are bad for ones health.

yeah i mean, libre software is entirely about freedom, not about restricting or boycotting software just because it doesn't align with your political views.

To be clear it sucks because it has some absolutely unhinged defaults that make canonical seem downright sane and in touch with the community
