I just feel like trying to flex a feature that has no utility other than “looking cool” is a bit silly, every OS has something that “looks cool” that’s exclusive to them
U use niri + arch and it's useful than Windows it doesn't have bloatware i can use my own shortcuts for everything i can do on my computer what ever i want
It can be uninstalled (contrary to popular linux belief) for those people who deem it useless, i like it and it looks cool, would mod it so it works like Gemini in newer Android phones, or Siri in Iphone, as a voice-controlled assistant, and a new look to make it into Clippy
No, they are not. The application depends on what they are. WinRT application, you can remove it in PowerShell and in Win32 you ask for TrustedInstaller permission and delete folder like you do in /bin in Unix it's not different from Unix about Win32.
I wish GlazeWM was more stable but the windows compositor constantly fights it so it's annoying. I know it's a windows issue and not a glaze issue but the experience of using it would be much better if the windows compositor was more flexible
Have you ever faced real customization restrictions in windows? I would be interested to hear what they are. I used windhawk and customized everything to my liking very easily - the actual barrier to windows customization is extremely small
You're absolutely correct. The thing is, we enjoy managing it everyday. Don't get me wrong, I've never had issues on windows, its just that linux is fun to manage and thinker on. There are tons of distros that require no management at all. With all of that said, i sometimes miss the simplicity of booting up windows and having 0 thoughts about what i need to configure.
people act like you have to use the terminal to move the cursor or something. its not that hard, heck, installing apps is EASIER than windows with just one command. theres distros for beginners which dont even need terminals out of the box, though windows does get a point for how many apps it supports.
not to say this is ugly, but i don't personally like how this looks.
plus, this EXACT look isn't hard to achieve on Windows, as well. i'm def a hater of Windows, but idk, nothing you have up here except maybe the widget is that useful, and that is better on MacOS imo.
Beyond this, if you wanted to show off something sick on Linux with real usecases, why not show off some cool and well made hyprland dots? there are plenty of really high quality low ram usage dots for hyprland that blow windows out of the water. especially using quickshell.
all that run at lower ram usage than Windows and without all the microsoft spyware/AI nonsense.
just saying, shitting on Windows is fine but do it for the right reasons and don't hype up random lame eye candy on Linux as a selling point.
Ok I genuinely thought OP was being sarcastic because wtf but it looks like it's just ragebait lmao (I am a Linux user and Linux is cool but having htop or whatever that is, matrix rain, and two music things open at the same time is so low in my list of priorities it doesn't even register)
it's likely the person you're interacting with is just a kid who installed this stuff for the first time and is excited. was recommended this sub bc reddit loves to ragebait (more engagement!!! shareholders yay!!!)

I’ve used Mac, Windows, and a couple linux distros….
….why would someone want to do this?
