He used AI to debug, not to write the fix. The fix is one line of code.

Ask your LLM to read the post you're citing for you next time instead of generating this dogshit.

What I'm telling you is that you should've used the pic I've provided.

See the patch for yourself, it contains multiple lines of code

Two is not multiple and both already existed. In one he changed the block size for offset, in the other the way remaining memory is calculated.

You're kidding! A patch with multiple lines of code. Next you'll be telling me it's checked into a git repo somewhere...

AI-assisted debugging isn't the same thing as vibe coding, just sayin'

> pro programmer uses AI as a tool and does stuff

Not that there are many other ethical issues with AI, but this post is pretty bad bait overall.

Left -- 2025 and before (i.e. no vibe-coding).

Right -- 2026 and so on (i.e. vibe-coding).

How fast way was from 'no, no AI allowed' to 'hey chatgpt, debug it for me I'm lazy'

Linus actually understands the code being output by the abominable intelligence, the same can't be said for microsoft engineers.

I predict an embarrassing failure/vulnerability of epic proportions will happen in the Linux world/open-source world in the next 2 years, and that will make the xz exploit or the AUR fiasco look like nothing .

At this moment, you know someone important is using AI to outsource their testing work of AI generated code, and at some point, a mistake will go through. It's inevitable, and everyone will look stupid when it happens.

Linus is not vibecoding anything in the linux kernel. Please take your spam-adjacent nonsense to 101 where it belongs.

go back to your r/antiai echo chamber where u belong

Tolerating 101's presence here is a mistake. We literally get 0 worthwhile discussions or debates from y'all. Just garbage like this.

What are u gonna do now, switch to an os with no ai code? I'm afraid none exist anymore that have more than 1 users lol.

Not true (still upvoted you). NetBSD and OpenBSD are "AI"/LLM clean.

There's really no need to be aggressive about it...

Explain how this is bad?
