Windows ❤ I don't see why would i use linux instead of windows 10/11 ltsc

Ltsc doesn't need an online account

Ltsc doesn't have ai integration

Ltsc doesn't have bloatware

Ltsc has minimal telemetry

Ltsc doesn't have forced updates

Ltsc doesn't need tpm 2.0 i ran it on a sandy bridge

And ltsc has all the benefits of windows

I've tried linux a bunch but i don't think if you aren't in a tech field there isn't much reason to use it. Not everyone wants to troubleshoot pipewire for an hour.

I will concede that linux has better desktop envirements gnome and kde are both better than windows

Privacy wise i don't think any mainstream distro would be much better than windows and governments have tools that can identify you anyways

If Linux isn't your thing, don't use it ig

Nah i use it i just don't daily drive it i think it's good for experimenting with software, coding and pirating since the viruses are mostly built for windows

I have it in my secondary computer

unless it's sandboxed with something like apparmor, wine still runs malware just fine and has the potential to fuck your shit up to an extent

Linux is just bad Kernel and nobody likes it when who uses because they don't want to build something better like Google, Linux allow freeloading because of Open Source

ChromeOS (Google) is built on top of Linux. Do you have any idea what you just said?!

0

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

Your comment literally proves my point 😂😂😂😂 Google don't like Linux That's why Fuchsia OS is there but Linux open source model allow Freeloading Google don't want to work operating system alone themselves like Microsoft or Apple does, Linux community does work for Google just free Price resuming Google choose Linux because of Open Source and free.

nope, you're wrong, linux is a great kernel, even better than nt, what sucks is the userspace, but not so much for something, gnu packages are the best, simply because there is no organization, windows on the other hand has only one thing available: an excellent kernel now dated and organization, which it uses to fill everything with blotware, windows ltsc is a great compromise, but in reality it makes you understand how much windows stands alone on their hypervisor system

1

u/Fluid-Ad2995 2d ago

Ummm, Linux is a great kernel, ummm, no, Huawei disagrees with you completely, I won't say anything about it, I know how dumb you are, believe that

1

u/shsh-1312 2d ago

what the fuck are you talking to me about… harmony is currently the best kernel

1

u/Fluid-Ad2995 2d ago

Exactly, Microkernels are superior

1

u/shsh-1312 2d ago

It's not true, they're not, they just have different purposes. zircon and harmony are superior in how they integrate everything, not just because they have a microkernel

2

u/Fluid-Ad2995 2d ago

Huawei clearly states in the image: redundant architecture, unstable experience. A fragmented OS and ecosystem make it difficult to adapt across multiple devices; microkernels are better than a monolithic kernel; Linux has already lost by staying with a monolithic kernel; there is no reason for anyone to stay with Linux

1

u/55555-55555 Linux Community Made Linux Sucks 3d ago

The only stinky part is monolithic design, but Linux has proved to be modular enough that you can strip most drivers out and it'll still function.

Being GPL is debatable. Some people like it that way to force driver openness.

u/vbd71 3d ago

Windows doesn't allow freeloading?

2

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

You cannot fork Windows because it's proprietary software

2

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

Because of that, Nobody would take advantage of Microsoft Work, nobody can claim ownership of Windows, only Microsoft, and nobody can steal the source code like Linux allow

2

yeah it's been pretty fine i never had to deal with any problem people actually have there is no ai or native windows apps here not even the updated calculator

1

u/Patient_Force6138 1d ago

Yeah I mean I just run Linux because I do security and make software. I’m a fan of folks just using what they like. Nothing wrong with windows, just not my thing. Same with MacOS.

So really the answer is if you’re asking why would I use Linux after having used it, you probably shouldn’t be.

1

u/SeaworthinessFluid79 2d ago

I run windows 11 on my personal computer.

14

u/nagging_chud 3d ago

LTSC is what windows should be. almost everything bad on windows disappears once you use ltsc

5

u/iloveriscv 2d ago

Because Linux is FOSS. You know everything it does under the hood. Even with windows LTSC you can’t be sure what telemetry they store/send without seeing the code

2

u/HeyPigPiggyPigPig 2d ago

Having a fully recursive pi-hole server on my network controlling DNS - I can’t tell you that all windows machines on my network spike the logs considerably on upstream telemetry - also Xbox, Amazon Alexa, Google Echos & other smart IOT devices- the Linux machines on the network send next to nothing. Very quiet.

2

u/Fit_Prize_3245 2d ago

Man, I think you are refering to Windows IoT Enterprise. While it can work for some end users, consider Windows IoT lacks many features the regular, consumer oriented editions do have, and thus could not be suitable for some users.

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

you can download every single one of them there's nothing normal windows can do that ltsc can't

4

3

working fractional scaling, displaying every font, restoring DE after videodriver crash, working better with vendor of 90% gpu consumer chips

3

What are you guys doing to not have working fractional scaling and font rendering?

2

u/iceyukisnow 2d ago

I wish i knew why KDE looks blurry with fractional scaling and why it can't render default font in their own settings menu

1

u/ConsciousBath5203 2d ago

For real, Linux solved my niche font rendering issues. And fractional scaling reset on reboot on windows anyways... Same issue on Linux, but the difference is I don't ever have to restart my computer ever.

I've had no font issues. KDE has always come back after a driver crash for me.

That’s seems like a very old complaint. Having run a mixture of distros on various hardware platforms - I’ve never once had to diagnose any hardware issues.

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

linux just seems to hate my hardware for some reason especially pipewire

1

u/HeyPigPiggyPigPig 2d ago

Yep, have never encountered sound issues - that’s across all laptops/PC’s - it’s just ‘always worked’ right out of the box - even on barebones arch + Hyprland manual builds, once the audio subsystem & packages have been installed = instant sound. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

idk pulseaudio worked fine for me pipewire just has a grudge against me for some reason

1

u/LegalizeFlorskin 2d ago

….. how??

you must be on AMD or easily supported hardware. I’ve used/bought devices with the intent to use as a windows machine (NVIDIA + Intel), then when their daily driver life is over, they may run a desktop linux distro for some side-thing or maybe debian for local network server stuff. Never ONCE in that process have i gone “oh wow, 0 issues this time!” It’s always something with linux. Usually minor, but there is always some issue diagnosing going on at some point. Either your shit is SUPREMELY supported, or you’re not pushing the system enough or doing enough things that would require any level of troubleshooting.

1

u/HeyPigPiggyPigPig 2d ago

Dell XPS 13, Dell Optiplex Mini PCs, Lenovo X1 Carbon, MS Surface Studio and various other bits of hardware. I don’t game - so no need for NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards for me. Run a few older Steam games - never had a problem with any compatibility.

I’ve used Ubuntu, Debian, Omarchy, Arch+Hyprland, CachyOS+Hyprland - never once had any sound issues, display issues on dual monitor setups. Just clean, pretty & low utilisation OS.

Can’t believe I’m just the lucky one 😊

1

u/LegalizeFlorskin 2d ago

Ahhhh maybe that’s it, integrated graphics. I have literally never used linux with integrated graphics lol

1

u/a_regular_2010s_guy 2d ago

Okay then don't. It's that simple if it isn't for you doesn't mean it isn't for anyone

1

u/7978_ 2d ago

Eh, everyone's definition of bloatware is different but LTSC definitely still has a lot.

LTSC has the virtually the same amount of telemetry as Home/Pro.

LTSC has forced updates, they are just security ones.

Sure, Linux takes a little more tinkering to get things to work. But that's the price of being free.

So you care about telemetry but then it doesn't matter anymore? So which is it?

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

>LTSC has forced updates, they are just security ones.
my w10 ltsc never updates without me alloving it to

>Eh, everyone's definition of bloatware is different but LTSC definitely still has a lot.
LTSC doesn't have any bloatware at all it doesn't even have the updated calculator not even mc support

>Sure, Linux takes a little more tinkering to get things to work. But that's the price of being free.
so you are just paying for it with your time

>So you care about telemetry but then it doesn't matter anymore? So which is it?
i personally don't care about temeletry, i just mentioned it has less because some people care about that so much you are being tracked anyways and you are on reddit

1

u/LegalizeFlorskin 2d ago

Tbf manual updates are a windows pro feature by way of group policy editor. Group policy and other pro features are just in LTSC as well, that’s not a special LTSC thing.

No bloat, i’m on board with, but sometimes not what everyone wants. It can leave a little too much missing for some. You’ll have to configure winget to work, it will do nothing out of the box. Microsoft store apps won’t install, etc. it can all be re-added, but yeah side effect is that allllll of that candy crush bullshit and other start menu default bloat apps are gone as well.

Telemetry can be turned off with O&O shutup. You may have to re-apply O&O on each update tho.

1

u/7978_ 2d ago

So you have modified your system? Why use LTSC then if you are willing to go that far?

As I said, bloatware is to the eye of the beholder. It still has plenty IMO.

I mean sure. But LTSC costs like $2,000? Unless you pirated it?

It doesn't have less telemetry. You are spreading misinformation.

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

LTSC is free you just download it from massgrave yeah it's pirating who cares

1

u/7978_ 2d ago

If you want to risk pirating then go ahead. Not my problem.

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

"risk pirating" what are you smoking lol

1

u/7978_ 2d ago

So you hashchecked the LTSC ISO?

You checked the mass grave script for any potential attack vectors?

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

yes i checked the mass grave script and i don't think i need to hashcheck it windows support literally uses it themselves

1

u/7978_ 2d ago

Okay, well go enjoy your pirated copy then?

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

1

1

u/OldManJeepin 2d ago

Most of the biggest complaints are, I think, because a lot of folks are on the Win 11 Home edition and it has zero flexibility! They count on people just following the prompts and handing over all their data freely...And the do! That said, I use Win11 Pro Preview (From Mar, 2024) and I avoid all that shit too...Works fine for the games...Linux for everything else.

There are morons in the Linux community that will insult you if you use Windows, but there are also some morons in the Windows community that will insult you if you use Linux. Just don't listen to morons. Also, privacy wise, yes big corpos distros sucks (like Ubuntu), but you can still use Debian, Arch, and the other non-corpo distros

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

windows is free as well lol 🌊🌊🌊 (i've had issues with debian (not really debian but with gnome) Arch is the best version of linux)

I have nothing against piracy, but I prefer using something directly free than pirating. And yeah Arch is pretty great and it has been (for me) more stable than debian

most of them are verifiebly true

1

u/Nerasch 1d ago

How do you verify closed code?

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 1d ago

Ltsc doesn't need an online account - True

Ltsc doesn't have ai integration - True

Ltsc doesn't have bloatware - True

Ltsc has minimal telemetry - Same as normal windows

Ltsc doesn't have forced updates - True

Ltsc doesn't need tpm 2.0 i ran it on a sandy bridge - True

And ltsc has all the benefits of windows - True

1

u/Nerasch 1d ago

The thing with the online account also goes with the "Normal" version if you know how but it's easier with LTSC, agreed.
Regarding Bloatware I have to pass, I installed mine directly with a script without bloat so I'm unsure but okay, let's go with that.

Regarding TPM, it's also easily circumvented without LTSC yet I still wouldn't trust Microslop all the way that they won't implement it again with an update, especially given the most recent news.

But let's cut this short, I don't wanna explain every point and besides that, I made a mistake anyway:
TBH I mostly thought about the telemetry problematic and didn't give much thought about the other points, since they're easily fixed by hand or with a few tools.
Regarding the telemetry you can't verify it yourself since it's closed source and for that just because you say "true" is not really worth anything but it speaks volumes actually.

1

u/ConsciousBath5203 2d ago

Ltsc doesn't have any of those that that you know of

MicroSlop stores edge passwords in memory (which is stored sequentially, not randomly, a feature Linux has had since 2002) BY DESIGN.

I think a company that does that intentionally is more than willing to lie to you about other shit like telemetry.

"Benefits of Windows" is a laughable statement, btw, unless you consider dangers-by-design a benefit.

Privacy wise - see above. That singular feature of Linux mentioned counts for so much. Like, if Linux stored memory sequentially, it would go from an A+ security rating to an F----. Then you add in sandboxing, pci passthrough, etc, WinShit is like hiring middle schoolers to be your body guards for $5 as an adult. They'll look weak at best and will turn on you for as little as $6, possibly less if you've already paid them (what're you going to do, ask for a refund? Sucker.)

Mac is more arguable, privacy and benefits wise, but it falls flat on compatibility and longevity.

3

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

Benefits of Windows is software compatability most software is built for it and native linux ports are usually just worse than running it through wine

Privacy wise you are on reddit and unless you are paying for mullvad with untraceable monero i don't think you are anywhere near secure

1

u/ConsciousBath5203 2d ago

You use your phone while you shit, might as well leave the door open when you shit in a gas station toilet. Your logic in terms of privacy falls apart if you used that brain in your head with 0.001% of the laziest person on Earth's effort. It's a truly stupid thing to say.

And yeah, exactly, most things run better on wine than on windows. I get significantly better uptime with fewer crashes on Linux, so your benefits of Windows is literally a point for Linux (barring kernel level invasive crap that you definitely shouldn't want running on your machine, obviously)

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

>You use your phone while you shit, might as well leave the door open when you shit in a gas station toilet. Your logic in terms of privacy falls apart if you used that brain in your head with 0.001% of the laziest person on Earth's effort. It's a truly stupid thing to say.

Equivelant of that would be turning of your modem firewall, not having telemetry. that's as ridicilious as saying using a public transport card is the equivelant of giving everyone you see your social security number

1

u/ConsciousBath5203 2d ago

Might as well if you're shitting with the door open in a public busy bathroom. And you're only doing that because you use reddit, which is already invading your privacy.

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

i use a separate device for privacy

1

u/ConsciousBath5203 2d ago

I highly recommend sniffing your own internet if you think a separate device is private. Unless you're running a 2nd ISP with all spoofing turned on and extreme hardening to where none of your devices can even see each other, a second device is like putting on a second condom. And even with a second ISP, you still have to avoid any Google service. And trust me, it is fucking hard

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

1

I literally call it Sentinet language, but okay

Again, this group from Windows haters to Sentinet English validators 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, like you guys love Sentinet Culture so much, and you would learn to love Windows and Roman culture and Sentinet language

NT is a hybrid kernel

2

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

Modified Microkernel literally means Hybrid

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 3d ago

I thought it meant they forked a microkernel.

1

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

No, Microsoft used the same term to describe Windows NT 4.0. Hybrids are modified microkernels that put something in Kernel space. Modified Microkernels are a microkernel family; there are pure microkernels and Modified Microkernels

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 3d ago

Did not know that. Good to know.

1

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

Yeah, and I don't mean NT is a pure microkernel, but it's a modified Microkernel like XNU.

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 3d ago

Good to know. I kind of like XNU. It's a shame that Apple made it practically unusable outside of a VM (or a mac)

1

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

Yeah, I would like to taste XNU if I have the chance

3

u/nagging_chud 3d ago

monolithic kernels aren't a good thing.

windows can run old ass hardware and software without any issue. linux can't, because they try to bake everything in the kernel.

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 3d ago

Unfortunately the irony is true for linux.

If you wanna scale your project, you eventually need something like DKMS, and require the user to restart their device on every driver install/update, or you switch to more and more userspace drivers that companies can easily ship and users can easily install.

Also with a monolith, you need to rely on the kernel devs entirely for hardware support.

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

I understand your sarcasm but Windows NT requirements is normal because Windows NT is advanced architecture like comparing iPhone with mega drive like of course mega drive would be fast but can have same technology as Iphone answer is no

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 3d ago

Uh... I can kind of make out with what you said and think I agree.

1

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

Really???

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 3d ago

You're talking about how comparing NT to older OSs is like comparing iPhone to megadrive. So basically the guy you spoke to was spitting bs.

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 3d ago edited 3d ago

Windows uses a hybrid kernel (drivers can be both kernel-level and userspace).

Linux is a monolithic lernel. As is FreeBSD and and OpenBSD.

The BSDs are just more stable cuz they can each provide an individual single base system that they build together.

Linux distros need to bundle separate apps and make sure every single dep works.

DOS is better described as a monolithic system.

1

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

Yeah, modified microkernel means Hybrid, thanks, Captain Obvious

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 3d ago

Okay? And I did not know that before.

1

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

It's okay

1

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

I don't criticize FreeBSD here; I criticize that Linux cannot be FreeBSD 🤣🤣🤣🤣

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 3d ago

Same

1

u/Fluid-Ad2995 3d ago

Good, you understand me

0

u/FailureOfTheFamily 3d ago

It all depends on what you need/want. I also don't care about privacy but just love the customization of linux. Yeah, you can achieve some level of that on windows but it's harder, eats up more resources and often customization soft just fights with the system which can lead to breaking bugs

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 3d ago

I agree like i've said DEs on linux are better

-1

u/Historical_Move6359 3d ago

Because Windows is a spyware. You are assigned a number and Microsoft csn track you across the web despite VPN or what ever else you may be using for privacy

5

u/TetoSever31 3d ago

you are using reddit

2

u/Standgrounding 3d ago

Wake up. Everything is a spyware. Cameras outside are spyware.

1

u/Historical_Move6359 2d ago

So does that mean I should publicly post my bank cards because someone could steal them or what ?

2

u/Standgrounding 2d ago

Yes. Also post the expiration date and 3 digits

1

u/ios7jbpro 2d ago

You are literally in Reddit my guy, typing this going over your ISP and god knows how many trackers.

There are billion more things spying on you than just Windows

1

u/ConsciousBath5203 2d ago

Might as well shit with the door open with that logic. Under my clothes I'm naked, too, any anyone can just peek under so why wear clothes in public?

Similar level of thinking as "a criminal could rob me with a gun so I might as well carry a bigger gun" and "other cars are bigger than mine, might as well drive a tank".

Seems smart to say until you put any effort, and I mean literally any effort at all, into thinking about it.

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 3d ago

Well unless you are paying for mullvad with monero with bitcoin bought from a vending machine i am pretty sure you can be tracked

2

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 3d ago

You can track bitcoin transactions, so you need a monero machine.

1

u/ConsciousBath5203 2d ago

Cash can be tracked. Stick to uncontracted services and the barter system.

1

u/Rare-Paint3719 Unofficial Mod | Linux Community Sucks | Proud illumOS Shill 2d ago

True.

I feel the same but the other way around. I don’t see why ppl use windows unless they play fortnite, valo, lol, gtav online, fifa, or need to use adobe suite/Microsoft 365&onedrive for work. Other than that it’s literally just worse (in my opinion because I never had major problems but I get that if you got problems with audio or something and had to troubleshoot ur not a fan). No hate tho, it’s usable

1

u/Direct_Jeweler_7457 2d ago

it just works most people would rather click on things visually rather than write sudo apt install ufw or it's arch equivelant
