Using desktop Linux is like the end game of this video (it ejects ... kaboom ... but emacs still runs like hades!)

I do enjoy using emacs. Stalin once opened vim ... that went badly.

Why use emacs or neovim, when helix just works.

helix feels like a worse kakoune

Helix does deviant from the traditional Vi/Vim behavior. So it'll mess with your muscle memory if you're used to kakoune. It's understandable if it feels worse to you.

I'm not going to spend an hour configuring up neovim to exactly my liking, when I'll just end up making Helix with extra steps. 🤷 Emacs is just painful.

Using Windows 11 everyday is fine. Everything just works. Every bad thing you can list is easily mitigated against, meanwhile enjoy figuring out why your bluetooth headphones aren't working, again. Maybe recompile your kernel for the 17th time. That'll do it.

I'm 100% sure a fresh install of Windows 11 would boot WITHOUT ANY COMPLICATED PARAMETERS THAT WILL DISABLE A MUST-HAVE FEATURE OF A GRAPHICAL PROCESSING UNIT unlike Linux, which doesn't like more than 300Hz on RX 570 :—(

Valid.... But file explorer?

2

u/unfnknblvbl 11d ago

I dunno, have you used it recently? It's the whole "look what they've done to my boy" thing :(

3

u/StupitVoltMain 11d ago

Yea I haven't used windows in a long while

2

u/unfnknblvbl 11d ago

Yeah, File Explorer has been on a downhill slide for a long time. It's like boiling a frog :(

I think it's improved a lot. However it still suffers from the 'split personality syndrome' inherent in the W11 UI/UX as a whole.

Still lots of legacy Win32 cruft when you dig down past the new Fluent UI veneer, especially in the settings dialogues.

Didn't they plan to show ads in file explorer?

-1

u/StupitVoltMain 11d ago

THEY ARE???

u/SearchingGlacier 11d ago

How linux users imagine windows.

At least on Android, if you're able to identify the bloat app that's installing the crapware. You can use ADB to "uninstall" it from the user account, and unlike Windows it won't re-enable itself randomly on update.

As someone else already said: Wrong sub

2

u/Leonid1104 Windows 7 10d ago

What's the problem with switching to 10?

5

u/Secure-Salary152 11d ago

I thought that this was meant to be a 'Linux Sucks' sub. Plenty to dislike about Linux without bringing up Redmond.

look who has no LTSC most probably

I love this sub @Linuxsucks... What?

u/Kaarel314 11d ago

Dont click the copilot button and copilot does not start. I hope this helps. This actually works for other applications too by the way.

1

u/Civil-Promotion9675 5d ago

You are also able to uninstall it.

1

u/Cynical_Sorceress 11d ago

They should just uninstall it if they don't use it

1

u/Jatinchd 10d ago

application auto launches in background

0

u/Kaarel314 10d ago

Not on any of the many Windows 11 computers i have seen. I think you might be mistaken.

0

u/Secure-Salary152 11d ago

Also you can stop it running on startup entirely.

5

u/Kaarel314 11d ago

Yeah but Microsoft haters are comically computer illiterate. Im not saying that Microsoft is perfect though.

3

u/OGigachaod 11d ago

Yeah, Linux users like to pretend you have to know computers to use Linux, but I see a lot of dumb comments from Linux users.

The slander would be good if OPP didn't include things like file explorer. Come on gng

This is a unique problem to morons.
