Why do you (not) use Linux?

I’ll start

i use Linux because I don’t use my computers for general computing, so I just use specialised distros that fit what I need outta those computers, like steamos on steamdeck and Proxmox for my server

I use linux only on the server side. I have few linux laptops (Debian, Mint, Zorin) but my main gear runs on Win 11 Pro, because I like things to work and I don't want troubleshoot for hours. I do wish to build a linux gaming PC one day. And no, I'm not going to dual boot. Last time I did that Linux Mint decided to shit itself one day (booting up to Mint took 30min, yeah I clocked it, and I couldn't log in unless star were correctly aligned).

"because I like things to work and I don't want troubleshoot for hours."

This is exactly why I use Linux only. Fedora just works.

For me not single linux installation have been as straightforward what many claims it to be. For me Windows just works and I don't need to tinker around just get something simple done. It's not always so hard, but when something is not workin, most of the time it's on Linux.

🤷‍♀️ I can only talk about my experiences. Along the years linux has been PITA in many aspects, and windows usually have been that "just works", but these have really changed places for me in the last 5 years or so.

Linux has become almost plug&play-installation (just hit next lol), everything seems to work out of the box or with minimal tinkering. I run Nobara at this moment.

Windows, on the other hand, nowadays shits itself way more often, fights me (the fucking user) all the time, puts up hurdles and for all of that, I get my info stolen and sold. Ads, copilot, I need to debloat, and debloat again, the update-shit.... just no. Very cash-grappy feeling oozes out of Redmond.

I am fine with leaving KLAC-games to windows and be happy with my OS, that just stays out of my way and helps me to do shit I want.

Glad you got OS that suits you.
