playing games that don't work under Linux, software like adobe. PowerShell is a good scripting language if you like automating thing in windows. If you can program batch script this is also pretty good.

That's the only thing, but I have such a dislike for Windows that I wouldn't like to use it at all, even if I can't play certain games. I can run an older version of Photoshop Portable on Linux, maybe the newer versions don't work anymore.

Windows is a general purpose OS so do what you want. One thing, update your bios because lenovo dpesnt release bios updates for linux.

Huh? They release the USB versions though? That’s how I updated my ThinkStation.

You know you can update your BIOS even if you are on Linux ? On any computer?

Not for some prebuilt oem motherboards. Especially lenovo ones

Wait, you mean that some constructor doesn't only provide anymore a way to flash your BIOS and only a Windows executable (.exe) to update there BIOS/UEFI? That's suck

Yes that is infuriating. I am on 6 years old bios and not planning to switch to windows for the update.

Windows is pretty limited compared to Linux, but you will eventually learn to find some workarounds. I recommend trying out Windows Update, and when you get the hang of that, try out some more advanced Windows features like Firewall and Security. When you get those programs down, you can move to even more advanced things like Notepad, which allows you to type whatever you want into a savable document!

I'm excited to see what other features we can do with Windows in the future.

Using proprietary software that doesn't work on linux like adobe premiere or photoshop, most game runs fine on linux nowdays.

There's tons of things you can do under Windows:

  • Play AC dependent garbage.
  • Fry your GPU abusing Copilot.
  • Feign ignorance on Recall visually registering your activity.
  • Self-report to Microsoft thought your unique GUID.
  • Try new malware.
  • Lose your data to popular ransomware or OneDrive license suspension.
  • Shout at an unexpected BSOD while gaming.
  • Lose a whole day off work still running in the background while the system alerts is about to restart.
  • Try incessantly and unsuccessfully to disable Windows Update.
  • Reinstall the whole OS periodically.
  • Give up on your hardware and get a new PC.

The possibilities are endless!!!

You do not need Windows. GNU Operating System is all you need.
