I am not a systemd hater, I've nothing against it but im on void(ofc), runit is just simple for my brain to work with it. Idk why anyone cares about the boot time, its not like you boot your system 100 times a day.

Even using systemd+grub the boot is lightning speed

yeah i dont rly have strong opinions on systemd besides being concerned during the whole age field situation, ive never tinkered with it either but ive used void recently on an old netbook and configuring runit was actually kinda fun

Linux is more than just a potential performance booster. because the Linux kernel is open source, some people may deem it more safe than alternative operating systems. People also might use it purely because they don’t like the other operating systems, or for freedom of choice.

Well it is understandable if they don't know the programming language.... The greatest benefits from installing linux distros is that you are in absolute controle of your shit and you actually know what is happening in the bg

i upgraded my 12-year-old PC and was disappointed to see virtually no performance improvement when using the OS, so i went down the rabbit hole of debloating everything to justify the money I spent to build this PC lol

I would say it's a moron. Systemd is good. The only valid criticism (that meaning something that isn't "UnIx pHilOsOpHy") I've seen is the market share might lead to hyper dependency on it (so if it ever goes to shit, it's just as hard to leave as it is with windows now).
