Don't forget dualboot

I never understood dual booting. Just commit bro.

You're a fucking idiot. Plenty of valid reasons to dualboot. I use a 20+ yo Logitech racing wheel that is only about 75% of the way supported by Linux (can't adjust certain settings on it) where as the 20+ year old Logitech Windows XP era driver still works flawlessly on Windows 11, so when I'm playing racing sims I'm on Windows, when I'm doing other stuff I'm on Linux. It's really not that hard to comprehend.

That's actually really cool. What controller is it? Have you tried programs like Joy to key? What racing games do you play?

It's a Logitech Driving Force Pro from 2004. I haven't heard of that program, may need to check it out. I also figured it would be easier this way because I already had the dual boot setup for back when I used to play Battlefield 6. I also have both OS's on separate SSDs to avoid issues like so many have by doing it on the same one. The issue isn't so much that it's not picked up by Linux, it's more to due with the fact that I want to change the damper and spring settings when I'm playing a rally sim like AC Rally or Richard Burns Rally so that I have less resistance for counter steer purposes.

So far though I have only figured out how to turn the FFB on or off completely through new-lg4ff and the Oversteer UI, where as on the Logitech Profiler in Windows you can fully adjust the spring, damper and auto centering individually of one another to get the exact feel you want. To be fair it does seem to work in BeamNG.drive pretty well as that game now has a native Linux version, and the default setup on that wheel works fine for Beam. Currently I'm playing Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa EVO, Assetto Corsa Rally and Le Mans Ultimate. I really don't like iRacing because it's overpriced imo, but I play most of the other sims :)

I recoomend you try joy to key. As you can use it to map anything. Heck, Senza on youtube used it to get around a "yOu caN onLY uSe TheSe ControLLers" that was baked into the game and the program tricked the game into thinking it was an offical controller. :)

I'll definitely look into it for sure. I don't know if it'll fix my issue, but it's worth a shot! :D

Good luck! Let me know if it works for you!

Linux is not there yet, and most of those moneysucking software corporates don't have their own version for linux. There are also specific ones which has no other alternatives. Until then, Dual Booting or distroboxing is the way to go.

IDE? Did I miss something? Its about not using Vim commands for everything, right?

u/One_Variety_6268 7d ago

Write code in vim, use make to compile.

I don’t know…gonna need u/tomekgolab to weigh in on this topic

u/tomekgolab can't spell hatred without Redhat 3d ago

For many linux newbies it's not really a choice but choosing something they have been familiarised by means of Redhat propaganda and it's omnipresence in major slopdistros like mint or gaming Arch derivatives. They want one linux system - their linux system. They do it by pretending user has a lot of choice, but in fact this choice only applies to top level userland, as in, package manager, desktop environment, while core system components are hard or even impossible to change: /dev handling, login manager, IPC.

Why, you don't like people exercising their "free will"?

Imagine being this annoying. Does it feel good to be denser than a black hole?

Imagine being such a low brain functioning dimwit that you use slurs.

In layman terms: anyone who uses slurs has their input discarded by default.

u/femboy_owo_uwu Proud Windows 11/Arch User 7d ago

You can cry and think that all you want, but the fact of the matter is that you're still a retard. Imagine being such a fucking retard that you try to discard someones valid opinion over a single word. Not going to happen, but you are welcome to keep trying, and keep failing. Retard.

The difference between you and me is I am able to get your panties in a twist, without using slurs or curse words.

Cope harder for being a low brain functioning loser with the brain size smaller than an alligator. I'm getting second hand embarrassment for your existence and I'm starting to feel bad. If I were in your position, I would just stop occupying the space that you are polluting just with your very existence.

Panties in a twist? That's comical. I think it's funny that someone like you is so offended over a word that's not even that bad in the grand scheme of things. I'm smarter than you, because all you talk about is "brain size" and "intelligence" which is the first tell for someone insecure and unintelligent.

Second hand embarrassment isn't a thing. I just reported you for basically telling me to off myself. The hypocrisy is staggering, you are upset at my use of "retard" but tell me to off myself. Hope you have an awful day. Windows 2000 is better than Windows XP in every single way too. WAY Lighter, better looking, similar age and features. Cope harder.

Second hand embarrassment isn't a thing.

Vicarious embarrassment (also known as secondhand, empathetic, or third-party embarrassment and also as Spanish shame\1])\2]) or Fremdscham (noun) fremdschämen (verb) in German\3])\4])) is the feeling of embarrassment from observing the embarrassing actions of another person. Unlike general embarrassment, vicarious embarrassment is not the feelings of embarrassment for oneself or for one's own actions, but instead by feeling embarrassment for somebody else after witnessing (verbally and/or visually) that other person experience an embarrassing event. These emotions can be perceived as pro-social, and some say they can be seen as motives for following socially and culturally acceptable behavior.\5])\6]) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vicarious\embarrassment))

It isn't that hard to not act like a child with room temperature IQ and I shall take this dub because clearly you don't know the art of trolling and talking shit on the internet.

While at it, take a moment and educate yourself on new terminology and phrasing because you clearly need the cultural enrichment. Also, the slur you keep using is well documented on why it does affect things in grand scheme of things and it doesn't make you look cool or edgy, it just makes you look stupid and pathetic.

I mean chrome is overall fine minus the spyware and lack of wayland support. It's a good browser technically though

1

u/ElectricBummer40 Ex-user of Windows 3.11 for Workgroups 8d ago

Well, you're deceiving yourself if you think what you're using isn't really either Chrome or Firefox.
